Pager Nonsense Latest Genius Manager Move

So working in support for a few years, and never really had any training of substance on anything. Colleagues with experience have mostly left or been pushed out the door. Latest and greatest brain tu-d coming from our excellent leadership is to simply have those who remain cover pretty much every part of the software all at once. Of course no training has been provided to support this expansion of expertises. Also being forced onto weekend pager shifts. Heading into my shift here in an hour and already know it's going to be a total $hitshow as I can see a couple priority 1 24x7 tickets festering that I have zero knowledge in. Good times. Loving this customer first focus of late.

PSA to any Oracle customer - ORACLE CARES ABOUT YOU ZIP, ZILCH, NADA. STOP PAYING FOR THE GARBAGE SERVICE THE LEADERSHIP ISN'T WILLING TO ACTUALLY PROVIDE.

F-king manger clowns.

"Why are you complaining, the extra responsibility guarantees your position. You must have learned by now, it's DB, size of SGA, are the disks spinning? how does memory look, JAVA, can the middle tier even communicate with the DB, Garbage collection tuning, the the apps. And last but not least can you figure out which patch is required."

Lovely. Another junior clown in training.

Not so simple as above. My area of support is in HOW THE APPS ACTUALLY WORK FOR CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE URGENT ISSUES. These customers expect, and quite frankly deserve to have the help of an expert.
Getting told that I suddenly am the designated expert on that subject matter without training or actual experience is a predictable clusterfuch at best.

Please go back to your mgmt training program.

Such a mess. Oracle is the dumpster of tech. Time for everyone to get out. Don't wait for a package, everyone is leaving, no one to layoff.

I am in the same boat.

I have expertise in one product. They added another product where I had no experience whatsoever, and they gave me no training other than whatever training I can find on the public internet. They did this three more times. Now I am an "expert" in four products that I can barely spell in addition to the one product where I'm truly an expert.

I know just enough about those products to BS my way through most scenarios. Seems to be the Oracle way. No wonder customers don't trust Oracle -- Customers know we're all just BS'ing them.

What general groups are you in? Seems to be a common theme across lines of business in conversations I've had with peers.

My org's leadership has has turned over 4 times in the past 2 years and I personally have had 5 different managers. Executive leadership has zero idea of how to run support or what customers need from the team. We pivot the support model every 6 months.

Maybe a layoff will save me at this point, because nothing can save Oracle!

I am in a similar boat!

They moved me from one product area where I was a specialist, to a new role where I had no experience, and they gave me no training other than demanding certification. Into the lake and see if you can swim!

I'm in the same sinking boat of a situation unfortunately.

Seems so silly that all I'm asking from the company is for training when I get signed up for new technical responsibility at their discretion. It's not like I came here and faked having a skillset that I didn't have. They assign me new expertise, but don't actually provide a means to attain it or even give me time to teach myself. Crazy. Just crazy.

Clowns indeed.
