Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Are ex-employees on this website?

Yes. I am. And I would imagine there are others. I am out here for a multitude of reasons. I hated the company and still do. And I have many friends who still work there, who are miserable. It’s like going back to the scene of the crime.

When you’re in the middle of it, you can’t see clearly because you’re at management’s mercy and you need your income. And you’re surrounded by manipulators who try to convince you that “it’s like this everywhere”, or “you think you’re a 4, but you’re really just a 2”, and “you should be grateful to work here”.

It doesn’t mean we haven’t moved on to a better life. But we care about the good people who are still trying to survive there. I offer helpful advice where I can. I offer sympathy and understanding and encouragement to the employees who are caught up in the daily confusion of a company that changes leadership every 1-2 years and is doing whatever it can to make them feel discouraged and walk away without a severance package.

And it’s fun to pop in here every now and then to disrupt the condescending know- it alls, the non-empathetic yes-men, and the victim-shamers. Yes-I take them on in real life too. Once you see them for what they are, they are easy to outplay.

I got laid off Nov 2020 and check in here once and awhile. After working at Wells for two plus decades, I have friends still there. They call and vent, its sad. I tell them that it will get better because it will. That is howlife works.

I am happy I got laid off, the stress was so bad. People backstabbing, to ensure they weren't laid off. Totally toxic. Thank you WF for giving me my bonus that I worked hard for last year. I couldn't believe it when I saw that in my account. I didn't expect it.

Friends have asked if I will go back to work there. Certainly not while the current toxic environment is still going on. I have some time with my severance and am not worried. I am so much more healthier and happier now. Glad in a way I held out for the severance but then again, the last couple years at Wells kinda wrecked me as human being.

I am. I was displaced last December a little over a year from when I started. Aside from the fact that the majority of my employment was during the pandemic, it was one of the worst work experiences I've ever had. As much as this has affected me in a negative way, I'm looking at it as a blessing in disguise.

Can we get a final bully vs victim tally? For closure

I stopped counting when the score was 8 all

OP, You were smart to get out. This is the kind of low-brow bs we have to put up with working at WFC these days. They are bringing in hourly workers from who knows where. No financial industry experience. They talk a big game, but can’t deliver on the skills. So they try to distract everyone from their own poor performance by launching attacks on others. We have two of them in our department right now. Dumb and mean. That’s a dangerous combo. They are impossible to teach in a WFH environment. I’m keeping copies of all my correspondence with them. This is the quality of the new people I see coming in. Wells Fargo is going to go down hard if they can’t improve on who they’re bringing in.

Again: immature response. If you are the “Defenders of Wells Fargo”, you are not representing them very well.

To the respondents, by engaging with the OP you have been trolled. That is the best part of this entire thread. I hope you have learned something here today.

FYI OP is a woman.

And the real sadness is in seeing those of you so anxious to try to put me down. My guess is that you are miserable there too. Because if you were happy, you would have a much more mature and measured response. Sometimes the bullies are being bullied themselves.

Either way, you have not represented yourself proudly today.

“ I hated the company and still do”

Can we start a goFundMe to get the Op the mental health treatment he needs.

Sounds like he has major issues letting go.

OP said “ I don’t call people bullies just because they disagree with me or anyone else. I call people bullies when they try to put other people in their place by patronizing them and criticizing them.”

What, exactly, are you disagreeing with?

I often get the feeling that most here have no idea what the word "bully" means. They never provide any details, they just proclaim things and anyone that doesn't agree is also a "bully". It's ridiculous. You may have actually been bullied, but no one would ever know it due to the shocking lack of relevant information to back up such a claim. It's entirely vapid, with no more substance than a blanket "you guys are all underperformers" claims.

@xgv+19jWXsPd said "I worked there for a lot of years and all of my best friends are still there"

So... that survey question of "Do you have a best friend at work?" was meaningful to you? lol, I always thought it was a silly question and our managers always coached us on how to answer it.

I am an ex-employee as well. I can say both pros and cons about WFC. Can be good money, but there are a lot of downsides you have to put up with for that paycheck. I think big banks, in general, are probably pretty toxic to work for. Depends a lot on your direct manager.

I worked there for a lot of years and all of my best friends are still there. So I’m still invested even though I’m gone. The stress in their voices and the worries about their future is heartbreaking.

The problem with WFC is a lack of good leadership. And they are in the federal government’s cross-hairs because of that lack of good leadership. Will Charlie be the guy that can save them? No one knows the answer to that, not even Charlie. They are in a desperate position, and I chose not to let myself be vulnerable to someone or something that is desperate. I chose to improve my odds of winning by going to work for a company that already has it’s act together. It’s everyone’s personal choice.

I agree with OP that life gets better when you liberate yourself. I moved out of banking and work for a large global life and health insurance company where women are 100% on the same footing as men. It’s a whole new world out there. Appreciation for good work, respect, good raises, fair promotion policies, managers who invest themselves in seeing you grow. I feel like the luckiest person in the world.

Am I to be accused of gloating? Am I “sad”? Well if that’s what some unhappy people like to call those who are encouraging employees to get out of Wells Fargo and be happy and healthy again: I guess go ahead and throw stones. That is not my attention at all. My goal is to encourage you to not be dragged down by WFC if that is how you’re feeling. If you love it: by all means stay. But if you are not flourishing in that environment, than know there are better companies to work for. Much better.

It is like getting out of a bad relationship. Once you’re out, you’ll wonder why the hell you stayed for so long. And no- the problem is not you. That’s just what the narcissists say to keep you down.

Yes: Bully #3.

You’re taking it to an extreme level. I don’t call people bullies just because they disagree with me or anyone else. I call people bullies when they try to put other people in their place by patronizing them and criticizing them.

You don’t have to join my (what you label) “Wells Fargo extreme haters club.”

But you could join my “Support your fellow employees club”. Or my “Ex-employees unite to support current employees club.”

So first everyone who didn’t join your Wells Fargo extreme hater club was labeled as a “yes man”...now you are calling people bullies.

Why not skip straight to calling everyone on here who doesn’t agree with your views just plain old “domestic terrorists”

You’re trending in that direction. It’s troll behavior 101

And yes I know, I am going to be labeled bully ##. Shocking.

OP is standing up for, and encouraging the employees. And he/she is calling out the school yard bullies. I wish we had more of it.

Who has a problem with that? The school yard bullies.

Yes Op is right and its not like this everywhere by any means.

Most places dont have these issues in the least and are more afraid of law suits which makes the bullies get pushed out, not the other employees.

Extremely sad post.

People can choose to learn from each situation and move forward, or they can choose to be a victim and blame everyone and everything else for their problems

Good news OP, it’s not too late to start taking responsibility for everything that happens to you in your life
