Appraisal/Compensation Venting

I will probably sound somewhat negative with this post, so I apologize in advance.

Over the past 8 years at WF, I have always performed or exceeded performance. A little over a year ago I accepted a new position in another area of WF to better grow my career and take on a new challenge. Shortly after starting I had a major medical issue and was on short term disability. Part of that included the month of January in 2020. I pushed myself to return at the end of January but struggled a little at work with adapting to multiple medications, going to therapy and working with EAC to get emotional therapy as well (the medical issue is quality of life altering). But by March, I hit my stride and was back to performing like I am use to.

Apparently that one quarter at the beginning of the year set the tone for the rest. I was rated at Inconsistently Meets that quarter and based off of the process, it didn’t change. My manager and their manager both indicated I am a strong Meets and even added me to a list of employees who they felt the rating should be changed (I guess there are only so many Meets that can be given).

Anyway, my rating impacted my compensation obviously. Not only did I not get a salary increase (at the top of my range or something like that) but my bonus was marked at 42%. Now, I feel that’s better than nothing given the companies situation, but it does not seem like there have been any complaints from those in the Meets rating.

Again, just venting. I am going to be calling HR tomorrow with my managers (and her manager) support.

Wow, it’s getting ugly. People turning on one another.

People, let’s all get along and be supportive.

Sounds like you should be one of the ones who get laid off.

My pool was funded @ 80% and I got about 70% of Target. Rating was Meet on both performance and risk overlay.

So clearly the formula i.e pool funding x 95-105% for meets doesn’t apply this year!

No increase in base pay either :(

@mjx+198xsMFb Move along troll...go upstairs and ask your mom for a juice box.

Also, I visited with my managers manager and HR and all is good. Conversations were empathetic, respectful and factual.

No sympathy for you. You really should have looked for a role outside, instead of wastinh your time on another internal move.

You kinda made your bed, so....

Performance evaluation system no longer allows a comment by the employee. That's very unfair.

I think you meant "you're." In any case does that mean you're not going to answer the question?

Can anyone here actually explain what "bullying" is happening? What specifically is your boss doing to you? I hear this all the time here, but I've never seen anything like it myself, are you being beaten in the supply closet or...?

And remember, your manager was put in their position by their manager(s). So they will turn a blind eye to it because if they did acknowledge wrongdoing by your manager, it would then make your managers’ manager look bad.

OP, HR is not perfect but it is there to help you. In order to do that, you have to put yourself in a position to help HR.

How? Documentation. Document every single thing you can put your hands on. If you have a meeting over the phone, send out an email afterwards which documents the conversation that you had with the party. If they object to your email or its contents, document that as well.

HR will help you but it will take work on your part. A lot of work. No one said it was going to be easy. In a "he said", "she said" situation, HR will side with the manager if no one presents any concrete evidence to corroborate their position.

But if you go to HR with irrefutable evidence in the form of documentation, you will win your case.

And if you don't, you can always appeal to the EthicsLine and show them your documentation as well.

Too many expect the road to HR to be an easy one but are never willing to put in the work required to substantiate their claims.

Honestly this is the first company I work at with no hr dept or at least one that is not there to help the people. I strongly suggest everyone take their issues to a legal authority that can look into some deeper issues in the company.

Whatever you do, don’t go to HR. HR at Wells is a criminal enterprise. They will not side with you or do what’s right no matter how much evidence you have to prove your case. Going to them would only make it far, far worse for you.

Yea I change groups too and was a top performer, but the new group blew smoke up may a–. Managers compulsive liars, but they play a role like they are on your side while they are putting a knife in your back. I would not trust them, they play the game well, but are fake, and really could care less about you.

About the only thing they are good at doing is pissing people off. Most have no leadership or relationship skills. They have no desire to develop or mentor people either. They want people to quit to reduce headcount. I have never seen a company with so many disgruntled, disenfranchised employees.

Performing above your peers means nothing if the are underperforming.

I wouldn't bother going to HR, your managers are just giving you lip-service. It was their ratings that go you that bonus level. I worked my a– off all year and performed consistently above all of my peers and still got a meets. The year before I was a exceeds, and at midyear I was consistently exceeds, it's just whatever game is going on this year. I did still get a fair bonus but I'm also well below my peers in my pay but do make over 150, so no raise either.
