Without spending millions on trying to create a "We are ExxonMobil" culture, I am happy to see what we are bonded by this unfortunate event. As employees we know in our heart that we are victimized by this corporation. Have faith and be strong that your silent voices will be heard.

Please spread the word around to those that you know are in this situation. EM will probably chicken out and settle privately. Push them!

Excellent! These are all strong valid points. Wrote to MOM echoing the same concerns you’ve listed. General advice is to keep your note succinct, to the point in your usual professional tone and you will receive prompt attention.

Written to MOM to investigate following points :

  1. Massive government JSS payouts to XOM to retain Singaporean employees, yet disguised retrenchment using PIP to lay off continues
  2. Many expats still in Singapore working for XOM
  3. PIP seems to be targeting older employees
  4. No retrenchment benefits offered
  5. XOM maintains dividend payouts to benefit executives and shareholders whilst rank and file takes the hit
  6. No pay cuts instituted to senior management, or employees before retrenchments as last resort

If all affected employees write to MOM individually to investigate, action can then be taken by the sheer numbers .

Who has reported to the authorities? Please help share so that we have more cases to support this. We need to stand together.

Don’t be afraid to speak up. MOM/TAFEP will manage our anonymity. There has to be sufficient number of similar reports reported in order to trigger an investigation against EM. You need not suffer in silence. Just drop them an email or pick up the phone now.

Someone is trying to silence this post by moving this out from the active post!

Kudos and this is the spirit!
Stay united and file this to MOM/TAFEP, we have a good case to shame EM just as they misbranded us a NSI!

@5ekd+16zEvLP3 - you’re either a troll or just an a-hole: “The fact that you are reading and posting during office hours tells alot.”

Correlation does not equal causality, you m_ron. People are here BECAUSE they’ve been PIP’d. They haven’t been PIP’d because they’ve been goofing off at work.

It takes a mere 15-20 min to draft an email and present your case to MOM/TAFEP/TADM or simply pick up the phone and call them. We have a strong case against this unethical practice. To be falsely labelled by as a poor performer against this bleak employment market will leave you with little chance to secure a comparable future job. The price of inaction is simply too high. Whatever the outcome, you will know that you have done your best. Please encourage your fellow NSI’ers to do so too

@5ekd+16zEvLP3 you can try your best but you will probably get axed before the 3 months. We will see how it goes. Good luck, remember to clock your LPO, 1 to 1 with you SLS if he/she has time for you and don't forget your LPSA.

For those in PIP, do you really think you are there by chance? Do you really think you have no part to play at all that resulted in this outcome? The fact that you are reading and posting during office hours tells alot. If you feel that you can really be competitive, take on the PIP and proof your supervisor wrong! For those who say we will never pass the PIP when you have not even started, suggest take PIL and find a better job.

FYI, i am in PIP and my first time. Instead of playing the blame game and dwelling on why i should not be in PIP, i will still take my chances and do my best, take charge of my own performance instead of relying 100% to my supervisor assuming he can do wonders for me.

Lol. So many bootlickers calling this a dirty layoff. You are getting severance and you are getting time to figure things out. It s—s that you had a comfortable life style prior, but there are many worldwide that were just let go without and additional money to stand on. Quit your b–ching and complaining people.

@5bbh+16zEvLP3. No company or legal counsel is above the law.
Wrongful dismissal can be heard by ECT

Mr. Ng (NTUC Secretary General) added that non-unionised employees of companies which are not unionised can approach the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management for advice and mediation services.

Dirty layoff, scum supervisors, bad leaders, silly lickers, poor management, unethical HR, illegal lawyers, bunch of cronies in EM Singapore.

The real employee out there, plan ahead for your life, the next wave is hitting hard and you may not be compensated 3 months..

It is obvious even retirees who worked their whole life being subjected to PIP, wake up and see this yourself, company will never recognize your business deliverables.

EM has the resources and Lawyers.. how to fight with them.. just take your PIL and leave.. those safe this round. Remember next ranking is in 6 months time.. you could be next..

Company in Deep sh–.
HR is struggling how to address concerns from employees.
Forcing Employee to sign PIL and silence them with minimal compensation.
Dedicated retiree felt deceived by unscrupulous organization.

EM, pls reflect on your approach before media expose and shame you.

@4are+16zEvLP3 - you’re 100% correct and I found that out for myself too late (not that I am much good at networking or kissing butt). It truly is all about “who you know” not “what you know” and about who you s— up to.

For years it bugged me that i had co-workers who relied on me for deep technical knowledge and problem solving, and they soared to CL 28 and CL 29 while I stayed at a lowly CL 26 (and even then, only somewhere in the lower middle third). I saw that these successful co-workers (male and female) spent nearly all of their time in meetings - and not even technical meetings - I’m talking mentoring, women’s interest network, United Way, all of the other Employee Resource Groups and even offsite “women in industry” conferences. Seriously - their calendars showed that they were in so many meetings, that they couldn’t possibly do any productive work. Yet they are still actively employed while I was NSI’d, because “nobody really knows what you do”.

I suspect that this lay-off has resulted in the loss of a lot of people who actually did the work and had the technical knowledge and skills that the company has always relied upon. If that’s the case, they are going to be in for a heck of a shock in a couple of years’ time.

Poor company, can’t even afford to compensate PIL and honor the agreement.

Really shame on EMCAP!

What else can it be if it’s not a cover up Lay-off. PIP failed to outline performance deficiencies state only behavioural issues that cannot be measured. All deliverables achieved in past years not recognised and overturned by a simple answer, this is relative assessment.
Shame on EM, nice on the surface, rot to the core inside...
Need to lay off 50% to bounce back...
Down you go!
