EM is using performance to retrench employees so they can escape from the obligation of providing severance package. Performance is subjective. Your SLS must be really good in talking to be able to pull up your ranking. You need to be good in talking and have higher up god father.

From ES as well, so far the communication from the top is no retrenchment, just redeployment. No mentioning of PIP happening across the functions even though it is happening. Good to have a high almighty godfather to look after you now. The trick is to know how to talk, don't need to know how to work or perform.

Don't be a sheep, look at the current and next batch of upcoming supervisors, they won't be able to develop our career, we are just numbers to them.

I think we have a case!

Copied from the post.. EM is definitely not Filling up the vacancies.. I hope the government withdraw the JSS
============
Singapore has a fair system. ST Dated 24-Aug
Employee is presumed to have been retrenched if the employer cannot show a plan to fill the vacancy anytime soon. Employer cannot side step the obligation to pay retrenchment benefits by calling retrenchment something else. Joeseph Teo warned the gov will withdraw the JSS and suspend foreign work pass privileges @XOM given >$40M of JSS.

Supervisor silence employee who speak up and voice their opinion. Supervisor feel the threat and worry that good performer will overtake their rice bowl, issued deficient PIP.
Hey, Supervisor, you should be the one who get PIP!

SG is one of the most expensive EM locations to do business with, rightfully so - decrease operations in SG. I know we have the largest refinery there but EMIT onsite and other business support should go. Transition over the KL where it's cheapest. Makes sense?

@XOM given >$40M of JSS.
Assume employees paid 150K/year all in average....40M pays for only 267 workers...thats 6.7% of SG workforce(~4000).....im sure someone in houston would say that this brings across a stronger case to layoff more workers to cover the JSS that EM would have to return!....20% maybe?

How are individuals' voices silenced? Aren't there channels or forums for Q&A with management and leadership teams?
Also, wasn't there always PIP? And it is up to every person to choose whether or not they want to attempt the programme?

Retirees, get EM return what they own you instead of taking PIP or MLRP!

People have been very uptight about this recently....are people really being let go through PIP in singapore? its hard to discern with management constantly making comments to sweep things away

Thanks to the supervisor whose core duty is to network with LTs, so oblivious she appears as a clown to her department.
It was a Blessing in disguise to opt for MLRP, don’t waste your time in a company that never treat you as an asset.
Retirees are deprived of their retirement package after long years of dedication to the scum company.
MOM should be informed about PIP in guise of Lay-off!

The high management staff should take the lead to cut pay, not cutting the ground workers.

The way it was done very disgusting.
Out of no where. Lay-off is just a tool for justification. This is not a positive discipline way of doing things. End of the day, employee is of no asset to the company.
There’s a herachy of way to do things.

  1. Reduce the shareholder dividend.(Other oil coy done it)
  2. Across the board minus @10% of the base salary.
  3. What happen to the tri- patriate memorandum.

Yes. We do have a choice life. Good luck folks. Wish you the best for your future endeavours....

Managers and supervisors are protected this round. They will claim the teams‘ contributions as their own hard work. With the individual contributors out.. lesser supervisors are required.. I reckoned they should be up for the chopping board next..

So many new hires over the last 1.5 years, although they know we are over-staffed. Now, worker bees will have to pay for this mistake..

Have been in the sg manufacturing for years now. It’s odd how Previous PIPs did not result in so many leaving in the past. Leads to wonder if it’s really poor performance? I know a friend that was top bracket the previous year but removed this time round due to “Low” performance. No one is really safe now with the new ranking, better start looking around if you survived this wave.

Performance is very subjected. Then again, ExxonMobil does not have the means to pay severance packages, not surprised they turn to this to get rid of staff, unfortunately it’s the worker bees this time.. and management are safe.. but I’m sure they won’t be protected for too long.

MLRP is poor performance and not retrenchment.

This is happening across all departments in SG as well, I have seen the bottom >10% removed from technical and ES functions, almost 2 per every 10. Even DH level were not spared.

Sorry to hear this is happening in Singapore too. It appears strategy is same across the board. Unrealistic PIPs, silencing the voices, etc. it is a lay-off.

From fixed equipment, I am one of the many who had pip in SG SCP. Took the 3months. Don’t believe the man who placed me in pip will fight for me after another 3 months of labor. Similarly, Yes man culture over here as well. Views/opinions in slido are silenced. And management including HR can only chant the same textbook responses. Good thing the workers are pushing for union to protect themselves. Hope they do get it.
