EM PIL/PlP is clearly an unfair and wrongful dismissals, we should consider taking mass legal action against EM.

@ykmf+16zEvLP3 , Well said!
A Taskforce to collate all impacted staff is formed. Suggest we meet and discuss externally to strategize the plan forward given that all the involved channels are informed.

People, I believe we can work this together, after all we are not NSI as EM wrongfully grouped us.

I am attending to job interviews and hopeful at the same time, we can expose the unethical exercise the company has conducted.

It’s time we correct the wrong. Play your part well and reporters will be informed as appropriately.

If a burglar wants to break into your house, do you think he will go seek no exception from the police?

We must not lose hope. Just keep reporting this to the concerned authorities. JSS and all other tax incentives come from the pockets of taxpayers like you and me, and we are obligated to ensure that this money is not given to a party who intentionally exploit legal loopholes to engage in unfair underhanded deceptive employment practice.

Thanks to @yicl+16zEvLP3 for sharing the contact information.
The early whistleblowers have already paved the way for you. It takes less than 10 mins to draft a simple email with a brief description of your circumstances to these contact persons. MOM, TAFEP, NTUC and even our Manpower Minister are already aware so there is no need to tell a long story.
If you continue to keep quiet and refuse to stand up against this blatant corporate bully, you only have yourself to blame. You will start to notice the weakness and desperation from these useless managers in these Zoom meetings, attempting to reverse negative sentiments by sprouting their usual empty BS motherhood statements. We need to believe that there is a possibility that we can influence the outcome of this exercise and have faith that our efforts will not be futile.
Do your part by reporting now. This is the real “ We are in this together”

Good news!

MOM is contacting employees who have lodged report and solicit more details to facilitate their investigation. Senior management from MOM is informed.

Please write to the following email address, attention to Mr Teo (MOM) and copy Raymond (TAFEP) respectively:

TEO_Kuan_Yee@mom.gov.sg
raymond@tafep.sg

Minister Of Manpower

josephine_teo@mom.gov.sg

copy to
mom_lrwd@mom.gov.sg

Each individual reported will be protected, just as the case of Eagle Services Asia which had recently refuted its irresponsible layoff, the employees reported to MOM and investigations were conducted. 140 staff ( mostly Singaporeans) received fair compensation after their unethical company being exposed.

Stay strong and united fellow colleagues!
Let MOM investigate EM.

@xgoj+16zEvLP3 Agreed! And no additional JSS since they have already gotten it. Good work guys!

I’m sure EM is ethical and only wants to improvement performance and no layoff. Let us watch this closely.

Important for MOM to set a date for EM to hire the resources to fill up the positions. Else this is a lay-off. With the current market, hiring should be a breeze so It is important to see that EM is hiring 400-500 employees within the next 6 months.. but I suspect EM may just drag and hope MOM forgets..

@wxbd+16zEvLP3 XOM is finding all ways to cut cost. nMPTs will also get it after the SQUAT.

Yes nMPTs have also gotten the axe

SIA also dying, but you can see a clear different how these two company handle retrenchment. None of the management taking pay cut, exploiting the employee and contractor is what EM can do.

Curious if any nMPTs got PIP during this round. Only heard of MPTs.

If it is only targeted at MPTs, then it cannot be said that this is purely due to the so called performance framework. It should be across the company. Just hope that MPTs are not the first to be axed because they have unions.

I guess the "BEST" exxon has is Darren Woods. Don't even do a single employee forum cuz he's not good at it. Leadership at its finest for the shareholders.

MOM progressively conducting interviews to solicit input from impacted employee. Fellow colleagues, please lodge in your case regardless you opt for PIL, PIP or force to retire ahead of schedule.
One manager disclosed that she was aware the lay off is targeted at senior employees age 40s above.
Minority are from 30-40s.

60% age group 50s above

MOM officer encourage all impacted employees to report.

Taskforce to set up and support a collective voice.

Not expecting reinstatement but to channel this unethical irresponsible retrenchment to MOM to conduct fair investigation.

EM Country Manager’s profile, MTI Advisor, EDB Board member, Istana Advisor, etc. Do you think all these PIP (Lay-off) programs can be implemented without his endorsement? Can MoM makes any different ? Let’s move on.

Xom crossed the line I think and should get sued into oblivion for the deception. No one cares about layoffs but it's the deception and xom is in the news for a lot of deception like tactics so politically I think the public will detest how they did it and punish them.

Lol. Like anyone would care that exxonmobil is using PIP/PIL to reduce headcount. The irony is all these people believe it will do something. Right or wrong, it is well within legal means to do so.

Looks llike we have not too smart EM management here to acknowledge using PIL/PIP to slash headcount. We should thank them, EM will soon go headlines in Singapore.

Say what you what. As long as ExxonMobil isn’t replacing the jobs, it’s a lay-off. I know many jobs are not replaced and many more will be displaced. Hoping that the government can get back their JSS to use for companies that need help.. EM definitely don’t need it.

@ulyq+16zEvLP3 I love how these backwards people try to point to amazon, microsoft, and netflix like ExxonMobil is in right. You forgot to mention GE developed it and look where they landed. Also MS got rid of it as well. see link below.

It nots about talent, its about horsetrading, backdealing, and politics. How does a technical person who is ranked underneath a supervisor get ranked higher than his or her supervisor when that person ranks them? Seems fair?

People believe in meritocracy but this doesnt work, its old way of doing things and most companies are developing away from it.

Why do they find so many underperformers? Quite easily actually...

1) you are performing below average compared to your peers. Exxonmobil hires the best and brightest, which means you can perform exceptionally well per your talent, but be rated low versus others

2) since you are rated versus your peers, what exactly is the definition for underperforming? You could be performing top tier one year, but hire a few Einstein's and that could put you at the bottom of your grouping.

3) just because your performed well in previous years doesn't mean that should protect you. Yeah yeah, you did something 3 years ago that saved the company money and got you ranked well. Why are you holding on to that when you have done little of value sense.

4) they moved the buckets to nearly double what was previously. So that means, if you are borderline making it (who cares what you did years before, that shouldn't save you)... Then that could have pushed you over the edge.

While some have been blindsided by this, there is little feedback within cycles to where you are ranked and placed. In all irony, this is fairly true for all companies (Amazon, Microsoft, Tesla that utilize the PIP program to remove employees). Some of the time you are where you are.

Post ID: @ulyq+16zEvLP3

Is the PIP program even new? The fact that EM choose to give you a chance by not letting you go In the past, does not mean that you can continue to underperform.

Do not use “EM is cutting cost” as excuse for you to underperform. In the past, there may not be a need to get rid of those weeds, but there come a point where enough is enough.

Even hiring the BEST, you are ranked, and through bell curve, ought to have strong performer and underperformer. Like it or not, it’s a company you choose. Unhappy about the ranking system? You can apply for a job elsewhere

What EM is doing is unethical! Why do they suddenly find so many ‘underperformers’ when they claim to hire the BEST all this while. This coincides with the announcement that the Company is cutting costs. It is obvious that they are trying to circumvent the local Labor Practices to pay retrenchment $$. I hope MOM look into this seriously, otherwise other companies will follow suit.

Wake up guys, wake up... If you are really that good, why are you concern you’ll be at that bottom 8%? People at the bottom 8% are there for a reason. IMHO, PIP is a good program to get rid of those weeds.

Based on " Employee Development 2020 Cycles" now time for step-3 - skill assess. PDS should close in Sept, but believe some of you still not knowing or been communicte of your appraisal grading yet.
Why management playing hide-&-seek game?

Not knowing your grading by now might be the next 20% to be place PIP game.

Good riddance. 10% gone in October is needed for the company. They really need like 30%.. But the PIP program is a start.

What do people think this company does, give out handouts to the needy? Much of the ones being let go aren't even quality performers.

PIP aka THE GOLDEN HANDSHAKE.. october onwards,we'll see more employees of XOM told to leave the company due to poor performance.. this place is getting more n more ridiculous day by day.. many has lose faith with the managements of today.. especially that process manager.. too many bad bosses nowadays..

@qetc+16zEvLP3 I’m affected to.. but what a xenophobic comment.. shame.. Does it matter that EM keeps? Perhaps the population of Singaporeans are higher hence you see more? We are here to share on an unethical move by EM to lay-off, let the government investigate, and while EM May come out with no consequences, at least this event puts EM on check.. and I hope the JSS credits are returned unless EM shows that they are hiring these 8-10% of workforce back.
