A "Gaslighter" tells you blatant lies with a straight face. Once gaslighter tell you a whopper of a boldfaced lie, then you're less sure what is actually true the next time.
Don't listen to their words, watch what they do. Do their actions match their words? Concerned about employees? Promising transparency? There will be lots of corporate communications talking about "tough decisions... and how difficult this is for us" —Yeah, not really. It's the old "I feel really bad that I'm firing you"– (but not bad enough to do anything about it).
