Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

EGS suddenly being added to your team? Watch out!

Wells playbook is as follows:

  1. set up parallel team in india or philippines
  2. you will see them and they will be team members
  3. they will be added to all same systems
  4. you will be asked to partner with them
  5. they will ask a lot of questions
  6. more will be added to your team
  7. eventually efforts will be given to them first and you will be asked to participate
  8. you will begin to be ridiculed for minor things
  9. you will be demeaned and given low ratings in evaluations
  10. you will then quit or be fired for cause

Ive seen the same thing play out quite a few times.

Its a way to avoid paying severance.

Look at your management structure and see if egs is being added.

Managers and employees are both being targeted.

Salaries in india are over 90% less than yours.

Good luck!

My EGS India " buddies" of 6 years also sent me final emails to say thanks for working with us, good bye, and we are leaving to find better paying jobs than Wells Fargo is paying us. I do miss them.
From a USA based technical internal Wells Fargo employee. They taught me so much technical wise and helped me be successful in my very technical role at Wells Fargo. I appreciate them greatly!

I am an internal USA based Wells Fargo technical employee. When I first started working at Wells Fargo I was assigned to assist some VERY technical EGS India employees with their technical programming work. We worked very nicely together, those same EGS India employees, for around 6 years. I helped them, as a USA employee do programming that they were not experienced in and they helped me do programming that I was not experienced in. Together we had a total "Win" outcome over the years. I spent a lot of overtime and weekends studying the program code developed by those VERY technical EGS India employees and as a consequence I became very skillful in their programming techniques and report writing techniques to the point where I was able to replace them when they left Wells Fargo India to find better paying jobs at other companies.

@1ur: I agree with you 100% that the work coming out of India is not managed well at all. Wells can not properly manage what’s happening in their own building, much less another country. From my experience, a job that is being done in India is specifically spelled out, A thru Z, and they do exactly as they are told but there is no critical thinking involved or allowed. If something out of the ordinary happens, WHICH IS ALL DAY EVERY DAY, then mistakes occur and it’s up to us to fix them. Plus we can not call over there, all communication has to be via email. And like it or not, there are problems around language differences.

I want to be very clear that I am not saying that it’s anyone in India’s fault. Not at all. I wish all our employees well always. I blame it all on how Wells Fargo has set it up, how Wells Fargo manages it, how out-of-touch our management is about the work, and how outdated and ridiculous our systems are. It has been a total nightmare for our department for the past 10 years. We are told “It’s not going to change. Make it work.” And in fact, we take the heat if problems occur and we don’t catch them before they cause bigger problems. And one more thing, which I think is hilarious: we are not allowed to say “India” lol.

However, the consistent problems will never stop Wells from moving as many jobs overseas as possible. They do not care about the quality of the work. They only care about saving the $$$. No searching for excellence here! Wells Fargo is just fine with mediocre outcomes if it saves them money.

EGS has recently been showing up on teamworks as dotted line to various people.

We've had an India team version of us for a few years now in my group. If they fully lay off our U.S. team for them it would be hilarious. Our India group is completely incapable of thinking. They are just box movers who will do nothing unless it's written in a step by step procedure for them. Management let's it go along this way too.

The quality coming out of EGS is a joke. Yes some work will go there, but it won’t be en mass until the quality is at least close to the US

They got that playbook from Chase, who already did it twice. Once it failed miserably and then they got new IT management and trying it again, only more the second time. I saw it coming.

My team has been adding EGS for over 7 years. Yes some work shifted to them but that's the nature of "follow the sun". Is more going that way? Yeah but it hasn't looked to reductions for us on a grand scale.

Getting a bad review is on you, not them.
