Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

McTurd-Fresh in the news

"Having to care and nurture eight video products is something that is our responsibility," he said. "That is not our strategy." of the launch, McElfresh noted that viewing has spiked generally, and subscription video on demand is up, though he said it was too early to tell if the lockdown has permanently accelerated the trend of cord cutting? LOL...and Nope.. cord cutting is up.

McElfresh offered some clarity on AT&T's plethora of video services, formed from acquisitions and a number of new initiatives that failed to pan out. There's U-Verse TV, DirecTV, AT&T Now (formerly DirecTV Now), AT&T Watch TV, AT&T TV, HBO Go, HBO Now and the upcoming HBO Max.

@2qob, AT&T's working agreements (i.e.: contracts) with the unions prevent mgmt from performing or taking over union protected work. Amazon is notoriously antiunion, so they don't have that roadblock.

I would watch the reality tv series, have these big shot executives go up against CSRs and compete on conversion rate. We'll see who has the skills to be "in line with expectations".

Amazon sends management to go work warehouse during the rush season, why not us?

Never understood why you needed a separate HBO GO & HBO Now app...should have been a single app with a different sign-on behind the scenes for Cable vs Stand-alone subs. That one is on TimeWarner though.

Watch TV was nothing but a ploy by RandyStank to make it look to the Justice Dep't that the merger would be good for consumers.

Leave it to the id–ts in charge at the Deathstar to take what was two video services (Uverse and DIRECTV), screw up both of them beyond recognition, and add another six really bad options.

If they were trying to sell HBO to new customer, they would be lowly grunts complaining all the time. That's not their job. That's your job. Lacky.

Stank can tell customers have low IQ, Stephens churns dividends, McFresh can grin with his guitars, Arroyo can talk fast, Mair knows his network elements. One thing all of have in common, they didn’t grow up in the sales and marketing track. Sure, they did rotations running business units, still don’t think if they ever held a pure sales job. Let them do a week of CSR, cold call, and door to door, see how many contract tv subs they can sell. Better yet, try to sell HBO max to a new customer at $15 a month.
