In-Home Experts...still dispatching...in a pandemic

“Let’s go win.”

The closing statement to Rob Forsyths (VP - Ready To Go) official communication regarding IHX and Covid19. The priority is clear: sales > safety. No hand sanitizer or wipes being made available. No dispatch filtering / prioritization for high risk customers (landline, access, etc.) Their only strategy was to mimic the technicians verbiage. They literally copied and pasted that organizations directive. Copied. And. Pasted.

We perform no essential function for the customers service call. At a minimum we should introduce ourselves as an optional part of their dispatch. At least let customers make an informed decision about allowing us into the home. They forgive our intention for sales on a normal day, but not when there is a f—ing pandemic and an 85 year old grandmother in the next room.

Rob & Chip - Since you’ve made it clear you read these... if an expert tests positive for COVID19, will you be the one to reach out to all their customers from dispatch and inform them that they were unnecessarily exposed? Maybe I’m wrong, but I seriously doubt it.

You guys created a unique, modern sales channel that customers and employees love (for the most part). One PR disaster will tank it. Do the right thing. Take the hit up front so that IHX can continue to “Go Win”.

I got reprimanded one of my last few weeks in COR because I ordered wipes without ARSM approval. Company is a t–d.

Not all of us here hate our jobs and hate AT&T. I love my job but this here is mind blowing that we are going in homes right now unnecessarily just to sell stuff!!!! Come on AT&T! I am very disappointed with this.

I love working in IHX and I think this post is right on the money. If we get a bad PR ****storm from one of our folks giving coronavirus to someone in their own home, it endangers our whole organization and all our jobs long term. We need to take the hit here and stand down dispatches. We can keep doing appointments (where customers invite us specifically) and help support retail with their call outs and even support FirstNet. But dispatches in homes is unacceptable and the public would be outraged if they knew we were still doing this.

Things are changing so fast. That email was sent out when things were a little less scary but I think it would be a good time to hear from him again and do the right thing.

That email was so tone deaf. Here we are some of us with family members working in hospitals or going through chemo and there is no compassion or help. There is a limited 80 hour leave option that does nothing unless we personally are high risk or have child care issues. My wife has breast cancer and is going through chemo but I still have to dispatch. And what happens when we go into a home of someone else in that position who is too polite to kick us out but we endanger them? The “go out and win” line infuriated me so much. I am really disappointed in him.

I just started with IHX but I can see this company is a joke. I am sending my resignation in!
