Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Dragging their feet regarding letting employees wfh

So both the State AND County of my state have called State of Emergencies yet WF hasn't announced a wfh policy. They are trying to "save face" after pulling people back into the office then implementing a policy where they have to bounce from desk to desk.

TIAA pulled all of their employees back into the office in 2019. Even they told their FTEs and CW on Friday to wfh through April 13th.

Perfect time to prioritize and fast-track the VDI solution...just my 2 cents.

To the poster who said they should have been more prepared - I 100% agree. That said, the delays they are experiencing now is not “feet dragging”. I’m on the calls where senior leaders are desperately trying to get laptops but can’t.

So it isn’t that they don’t want to - they are constrained by the amount they can image daily. Period

Trying to save face after reducing wfh fiasco is called pulling a scharf

“They can only image about 1000 laptops a day and have over 19,000 requests so far for new laptops.“

They should have given the image overlays to the manufacturers to begin with, then run patch updates once the device connects to the network or VPN. I’ve mentioned this over and over for years when deploying a massive amount of hardware. But no, they think their stupid software overlay is some sort of top secret proprietary. Ridiculous.

Every single time I go to a Vendor site, (Cisco, Apple, Microsoft, etc) to review a new White Paper or Product/Service Catalog I get a “going to jail flashing red light violation notice reported to your manager and HR for violating internet policy.” They don’t let you do your job. They have to peer over your shoulder and track your every movement.

Dumb just dumb. They shoot themselves in the foot every time.

It’s not intentional. They can only image about 1000 laptops a day and have over 19,000 requests so far for new laptops. It’s clear from what I’ve seen they are trying to go to wfh, but the internal constraints and prioritization is taking time

Interesting.... All of Saul's org have been told to work from home in email from Saul. Interesting tidbit.. 70% of technology employees are already work from home.. Never heard that before. Saul has 24,000 employees under him as Head of IT.

That is 16,800 people who work remotely or am I missing something?

At least they had the decency to move up the date for location strategy impacted people

There is a person the floor, west building HMMC, exposed to someone that was in contact with a later confirmed case, in the office 3+ days. They are likely not the only one at the campus in a similar situation. Not sure what they are waiting for to push out long term work from home...but by the time they call it...2-3 weeks of already exposed people will be walking around in the buildings...not washing their hands, touching the same screen in the general store as everyone else, handing their credit cards to the same two coffee shop cashier's or same two Gold Rush cafe register employees....many of these people live in the suburbs, have kids that were going to school up until this week. The BCP is a myth, (as just a single server that dropped rocked the company for two days and it took months to recover)...what sense is there in needlessly keeping people here? This company doesn't invest in itself or it's employees...nor to they care about being part of the community. In a time of crisis...this delay is a signal to us that profits are the only factor to consider.

As per a recent email received about how Wells Fargo will handle it's employees possible, or actual, "difficulties" during the corona virus pandemic I would say that the company is being outstandingly generous and sympathetic to it's employees looming troubles. Assisting with day care while the public schools are closed. Offering very generous short term disability leave benefits, etc. Could not be much better. WOW! They are good.

Question, how would a non-exempt employee WFH or one without a laptop? My guess is that the majority can't WFH!

Why don’t you go back to Tiaa?

This depends on your group. We have already been told to stay out of the office according to our judgement. I am guessing that the VPN infra isn’t scaled to handle the volume and there is a desire to avoid another fiasco. It gets slow during local events like hurricanes, so that’s a clue that it can’t handle much larger concurrent volumes. It is after all Wells Fargo.
