If you are surplus or take a voluntary offer you don’t qualify for employee service discounts beyond your last day on payroll. Plan accordingly and change /downgrade packages before your bill cycle date. Don’t wait, as there are no prorates on mobile phone bill. I’m waiting on my $400+ bill for 4 lines. Yeah.

If you are a retiree, you have to check with the benefits center for discount eligibility as a former employee.

If you want to go with another service provider, do it prior to leaving the payroll.

I was outsourced to IBM in the Yosemite deal effective 9/1/19 along with thousands of other employees. HR told us not to change any of our services or we would lose our discount. I foolishly listened and within several billing cycles my Directv bill went from less than $11 a month to more than $190. It included my loss of employee discount retroactive to my termination date. I informed Directv that we were explicitly told not to change anything, but they would not give me Evan a small credit. So if you have Directv, drop it immediately and go with Hulu or YouTube TV for $50 per month. The service is much better and no ugly plastic boxes or cables to collect dust. AT&T wireless was not as bad since the retiree discount only dropped by 20%.

They jack the rates up to full rack rate on the day after you terminate.

I would go with cable package with home phone. It was cheaper than any discounts that you never know when they will change the discounts. Now my voip actually works att voip never worked for me and was a smoking pile.

There is now no difference between active employee and retiree concession on internet. That occurred in 2019.

Other concessions will all change from active to retired by the 2nd billing period.

This organization has no loyalty toward its employees, don't think for a minute that they deserve any loyalty from you as a customer.

Concessions are removed immediately upon separation from this company. People expecting a pink slip should have arrangements for service from more competitive providers set up before their separation date.

OK for retired they say don't mess with anything for 6 weeks, then you need to login to the portal and apply the discounts again. However you will want to disconnect Directv, as it's cost goes up 10X. Wireless goes to 30%, and if you are over 55, T-mobile will do unlimited everything for $35/mo. I went streaming TV with AT&T TV NOW, which get me unlimited Uverse internet.

Took an offer last year. Discounts gone within a month.

My internet took a year to switch from employee to retiree. No retro-active billing.

Expect large increases for phone, internet and TV. I went from $20.00 to $60.00. There is near zero benefits to stay with AT&T. Then there is the multiple months of billing being wrong. Very frustrating.

I had a couple of coworkers that were surplussed last year and they said their wireless service immediately changed the next billing cycle after leaving. It used to take longer but they got quick on that. A lot of them switched their wireless service to Teleo which runs in the sprint network but dirt cheap includes calling, text and 6gb Internet for $20. Check your area to see what kind of coverage you get. Good luck!

Yes mobile rates are commonly below ATT's discounted. Look for fiber or other internet service at introductory prices. Run your home phones on google voice VoIP using ObiHai or similar modem. YouTube.tv is cheap & good. Good luck
