Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Coneheads

So this Titanic is on a headlong course toward the iceberg of Death and what does our Safety Department decide to do - make us put 3 CONES instead of 2 CONES.

One cone in front of your rig, one cone behind the rig and NOW - a third cone next to the passenger door in case some civilian walks into the side mirror while texting.

And to make sure we do this - VP Staff will be visiting our work sites to count cones. Sounds like an opportunity to reduce headcount amongst useless staff snowflakes to me.

Besides, if some twat is text walking and runs into my side mirror - isn't that T's fault? After all, they sold the iPhone to this id–t, not me.

I blame the entry of the Prem tech title, everyone pays the price for their stupidity.

I use 12 cones, 6 are used for the ends of my ladder, on the ladder rack. I love the look of safety inspectors and supervisors as they try to explain my safety faux pas.

It would be nice if they were as concerned about the rotten @$$ copper, $hitty cell coverage, and pi$$ poor customer service as they are cones and a vest

Glad I'm retired from AT&T. As far as that third cone, I've got a good idea where they all need to be shoved. Hey, Randall, come over here.

Do everything the company asks and everyone will be happy 😆

It's relatively simple you all. If you aren't happy here and don't like all these policies and rules... Resign and find work elsewhere. Why gripe. Just go find another job that isn't making these kind of rules. Stop the crying, get out of here. It's you people that make this place horrible. Just do what the company asks and everyone is happy. Be appreciative of the job you have now. I guarantee you one thing, the people surplused would love the chance to put out 3 cones and still have a job.

Now I need carpal tunnel surgery for both hands for throwing cones out for 25 years every time I move my vehicle up a couple car links..... their current policy is the stupidest thing ever seen in my life!!

If you think the 3rd cone is dumb, wait until they tell you, you have to park your car in the middle of the street, get off onto oncoming traffic, take out 2 cones and place them in front of the vehicle thats behind you in the space you are trying to back into to park your truck.

managers that drive desks make the decisions about what is or is not safe, don't believe it? How many of you outside tech's have had an "incident" of some sort and the outcome was if employee had....cones, vest, safety glasses, observed, circle of safety, fvd and on and on and on......
Been written up for not testing something with a fvd? because the fool manager was not there and did not see you?

Find it odd that people have been working at this place since the 1800's and now we have folks wearing a reflective vest to change out a kitchen Jack...The only people I know who have been run over were wearing a vest. The vest doesn't make you safe! If anything, the constant barrage of bright reflective vests and shirts has dumbed down their importance. Used to, the only time you saw those it was somebody working in the road. Now everybody wears them everywhere and it numbs your reflexes. You don't think anything about the guy standing on the roadway in a vest because you just left the grocery store and the lady working in produce was wearing the same thing.

Make no mistake about it, the company cares about liability not safety.

These safety measures are put in place by manages who never worked in the filed, never hooked a pole or crawled a house. The level of impracticality is exceeding my expectations. "Work to Rule"

So many rules to follow or face disciplinary actions. No wonder accidents are through the roof. Can't focus on a single task with out worrying which one of our 50 rules we are breaking. Of course upper management's response will be more rules...... really need a thinning of the herd at mid/upper levels of management.

Bout as smart as the turn your strobes on when you leave the yard in the morning and off when you return policy we have. Yep brilliant be the biggest distraction on the road if they don’t see the huge white utility vehicle with reflective tape and stickers all over it or the tech wearing all the personal protection gear in the middle of the cow pasture with three cones out and a hard hat on its probably because they are to busy having a epileptic seizure from all the other techs strobes blinking and we wonder why this Isn’t the company we went to work for anymore!

And if you are at a gas station and leave the vehicle to go inside to purchase something, the cones need to go up around the vehicle. As if you being at the vehicle magically protects it from an accident.

Another finely though out plan by managers with no job, afraid of being sent home. So this is the kind of c-ap that they dream up, desk jockey dreams of telling folks that actually work for a living what to do.
