Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Employees Don’t Care Because Verizon Does Not Care

Verizon has lost the support of their front line employees. The majority of employees don’t care if they lose there jobs, many wait to be laid off or fired, plenty welcome it. Once you have employees who don’t care about losing their job, there is absolutely nothing you can do to motivate them.

EVERYONE, knows with 100% certainty that what retail does on the front lines is wrong. Some people deny it, others take it home with them everyday and feel terrible and others don’t care. But ALL.......ALL know what they do is wrong. This is why the employees don’t care about there jobs. If Verizon does not care about what the employees and managers do to our customers on a daily basis, how can you respect the company.

More important, how can you respect yourself? There is very little thought that goes into ones self sense of worth. Are you worth so little that you will take advantage of people just to make a dollar? Is that dollar really worth your respect as an individual? Add up all of your commission checks for as long as you know you have been dishonest to customers, that total is what you have sold your self-worth for.

To the dishonest employees out there (including managers, you know who you are) NO one trusts you and I️ mean NO ONE. Including those who praise you. Why? because they know who you are what you would do to get things done. They know that your a dishonest person, and no one will truly trust someone like that.

In the end, none of this will matter, what will matter is the legacy you leave to your family, friends and children. Will you tell your friends, family and children “do what’s right”? Can you really tell them that? Sure you can, but will it REALLY mean anything? No, it will not and only YOU will know the truth and will have to live with that for the REST of your life.

^^^ all of these posters are correct. These last 3-4 years have been the worst for moral, for integrity, for employee teamwork and partnerships. It's every man for himself/herself. The better you can say I did, I did, look at Me me me! and back hand anyone in your way (real or perceived) the better for you. Leaders are telling sales people to do things WE all know are wrong and where is the recourse? Leaders are bullying direct reports for results that haven't been accomplished in years in some territories. Who are you going to tell? HR, please, they haven't been your advocate for at least 20 years and many of them are in the same boat feeling what you are feeling, that this company no longer aligns with your values. Sadly, in most cases those values are the ones we learned here. So take that severance and find your happiness. There is life after VZW.

"But the credo!!" @QcriCKt-giv

We 'Believe' integrity... belief means different things to different people. Integrity is challenging - even Victor Frankel remarked that the best didn't make it out.

This rings so true. Well said. How much is your integrity worth working for VZ? I've never seen a company break ppl like VZ does. Even the few ppl that are enjoying the fruits of the company (promotions, commissions, or recognition) enjoy them at what expense?? What price tag is worth lying, cheating, and doing whatever it takes to get ahead. Enough!! This company is going downhill fast- and I can't say it doesn't deserve it

@xhz

Too funny!

As a soon-to-be-former trainer, it eats me up inside knowing that everything I'm teaching my new hire class will be undone once they get back to the store.

I do my best to dance around the shadiness that goes on in the stores. But I know that all that good customer service, credo, Earn the Right $hit goes out the window when they're back on the selling floors.

It's why I'm outta here.

As much as this company aspires to be customer-centric, it's still a price-gouging behemoth. That will only change with the LOL McAdam and Strattons step down. Maybe.

@1nas Yes you're right, that's why I felt such tremendous shame. I'm working to change careers, going back to school in January, etc. It's hard to stay true to my moral center with the targets where they are and customers treating me like a punching bag.

@lqf There's a pretty simple solution here- don't listen to your manager if s/he tells you to do something that lacks integrity. Doing it was a mistake that you it chose to make

Preach! My manager told me to slam TMP on every customer without asking. I got a vicious, scathing call from a mother whose daughter I added TMP without asking yesterday. Having to pretend it was a misunderstanding while she full well knows I did it deliberately....it eats me up inside. And that’s the least of it.
