It appears based on many posts that in he next few weeks several SPARC dev teams will be axed most likely sites Santa Clara, Austin and Burlington in US other teams worldwide. If anyone wants to add or correct to this to warn fellow oracle mates, do so.

unless they decide to change it, theres no cap to severance week payouts.
i saw someone get 26 weeks pay lol.
to the poster below, could you please clarify if this is sales or development, and if so, SPARC dev or Solaris?
Sales teams across north america are having layoffs on a team by team, week by week basis for the past 4 weeks now.
source: i know the people and i see it in aria.
i have no info on dev teams but would love to have some
Btw that's standard package

Hw? What site?
We got two weeks notice and the better than standard layoff package
(4 weeks for the first year, one week for each additional year).
Is there a cap on the layoff package w.r.t. one week per year?
Looks like I'm on the chopping block come January 2017 and I
have quite a few years with Oracle. Would be nice to have extra $$
before heading to retirement..

Team size? Did you see it coming?
This info helps others.

Burlington ? Sparc related?
My HW team got whacked December 2nd. We got two weeks notice and the better than standard layoff package (4 weeks for the first year, one week for each additional year). RIFs are occurring in hardware all over Oracle. It's just they are keeping then rather small.
I do hope Theyblet me go

Can you share why BU let you go and the other people?
I was let go on election day and I heard today that Oracle laid off people last week.
Oracle never announces or confirms, they do it all under the radar. You won't know until the day you are told to pack up your desk and leave, and your benefits end at midnight. If you are being kept, you have been informed by now and told to keep it to yourself. Everyone else is still up in the air.
When the day comes, there will be 2 types in the teams.
Those who know they are staying on because they have been told
Those who get RIF'd
Merry Christmas.
@KHEOEEJ-ytc Could you please point to the confirmation?
@KHEOEEJ-bow so far there is no comment at all from official side from Oracle. Remember they are in quiet period. At the moment this is just a large heap of unverifiable rumours in both directions where everyone just believes what she/he feels is true.
It appears that Oracle has tasked one of their PR monkeys to publish a white paper about Linux vs. Solaris:

Now why would anyone publish some defensive-sounding BS white paper on a web site about layoffs.
Simon says: the more Oracle denies this rumor, the morey they are confirming it.
Seriously? Why don't you preempt Oracle and resign, then? What's the point speculating if your mind is already made up?
I've been hearing rumors of SPARC and Solaris demise for the last six years. Why now when the business is paid for and is bringing profit. The only one benefitting from it is the competition.

You don't need to come here if you don't like it.
Add some information that will make us think otherwise if you want to contribute. Otherwise why post..

Why argue with the guy. Let him find out the hard way when he is crying at the unemployment line. Sadly.
Though I suggest getting people to post any actual meetings as evidence. There is a lot of additional fiction to this I am sure though the main idea is correct. Lots of speculations of when an where.
It's possible they accelerate plans if they came in under guidance they had already lowered. This will spook Wall Street along with all the recent acquisitions. Remeber LE and team just got a pay cut.
Bulls*** to you sir. Sparc T & S series is in fact dead, confirmed, aside from what is already released.
They might not can them entirely but significant reduction in force is likely around the corner. Don't kid yourself or others. Don't get blindsided. People have lives mortgages to pay and kids to feed.
"Oracle always"
Bullsh--
No, they don't. RIFs always occur before end of fiscal quarter or FY, depending on notice periods. The nearest round will be next February and May.
Except that they were supposed to happen four times already in the last month. Can we put it to rest already? Nobody's canning SPARC or Solaris.
Sh-- scary
Oracle always do it before holiday so they can save more money, so if it happen, it will be before xmas.
Would know in a month or so.
