Let me start off by saying that I’m very pro union. I was craft for my first 7 years with the company & only moved to management after they closed my center down & moved it out of state & I needed to remain local to work. Myself and a few of my work peers have been dispatched out today because we were all assigned to locations within 50 miles of our homes. My coworkers with out of state assignments are just at home on Standby.
I’m glad the union is striking because as a manager, I see everyday how this company will screw you over if you don’t have representation. With that said, I’m livid that I have to be here on a Sunday for 12 hours while the company pretends that they have qualified people ready to do the jobs of techs. All we did was watch about 10 videos and take one class on climbing a ladder. We didn’t even tie the ladder up. I have no clue how to do any of this. I’m a staff manager who sits in an office all day looking at spreadsheets. What do I know about splicing fiber??
We all know that this is a joke and all it does is piss everyone off at AT&T for playing games with all of its employees livelihoods. It’s a dangerous game to play because if any one of us gets hurt while we play tech for 4 days, imagine how that would play out.
As much as I don’t want to do this, stand strong CWA. We’ll try not to mess things up too much before you all get back.
