@a4 Highly doubtful, H1B applications dropped by 87% this year. Odds are this RIF is removing all of the H1Bs from Oracle as a form cost reduction.

@jw I'm old enough to remember MH's post quarterly All Hands where he would tell us that everything was hunky dory. Then one day his All Hands was cancelled just as it started. IIRC the next one was never scheduled and then he passed away.
Time to get rid of the dead weights, there are a bunch.

Historically Oracle loves to strike layoffs just after Labor Day weekend , just before quarterly earnings report, because it’s when employees are relaxed and expect it the least ; Oracle is like a striking-layoffs snake
M5 here folks. September 8th is the day. It is right after Labor Day, before earning report which is on September 10th, and before the all hands which is scheduled for the mid of September.
It’s expected to be similar to last year, which the second round of layoffs in US was one day after Labor Day.

The layoff process started.
1st round: M6. Lot many VP's were gone today.
This will continue till this month end and they will remove lot of mgmt chain (M level) and employees.
I feel lot many will go this round compared to last year. All the best guys.

@a3 Expect the all-hands to be prerecorded and simply someone pressing Play. There is no live audience to create a situation for difficult questions or heckling.

That actually makes sense as to timing as the company wide All Hands is on the 15th and 16th. Why would you lay off people on the 14th and 15th then? Much more difficult to handle IMO with angry/upset employees who just saw their coworkers and friends get axed. But then again, this is Oracle and nothing should be a surprise.
