Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Marshall Site is on the market

C-Suite is quietly looking to sell of re-purpose the Marshall MI site. What a huge mess! DF wrecked the local community economy. Would be a good location though for an Amazon DC.

@118 Here's an idea based on your observation that could be just as profitable to Ford. Don't fix the water systems. Just slap a blue oval on bottled Touge river water and sell it to the residents near Ford factories. Hey. It might even be blue in coca. I bet kids will just love it. You guys hiring in sales/marketing? Bottoms up!

There are people in Michigan living within 10 miles of the largest freshwater system in the world who can’t afford their water bills. The water infrastructure has aged out and ratepayers are footing the bill for its replacement. The water system is foundational to economic growth and community, and government is the primary source of funding for long term, regional investment. Instead of investing in infrastructure the state invested in a highly speculative battery plant specifically for Ford Motor Company and its Chinese partner CATL. The battery plant is the sort of investment that banks and equity markets are good at financing. The State should get back into its wheelhouse and fix the damn water system. That would benefit everyone.

@yb I really don’t get it, but I really do wish you well, maybe we can both agree to stop posting so we can enjoy the break?

@y8 as someone who has experienced what I’m saying first hand, I still stand by what I said. You sound like you take pride in your manufacturing work, that’s good, not singling you out.

@xw as someone who’s worked in manufacturing if you think they don’t take quality seriously, it sure seems like they do, even some of the smallest issues get a lot of attention, not sure what you mean about suppliers

@xw Quality does not seem germane to the Marshall plant issue. If you have any good insight I'm all ears.

@jt ford will never admit to it. They will pretend it didn’t happen. We can say quality issues are addressed, but how does one address quality issues that a company pretended didn’t exist when brought to their attention? Same goes for Ford’s close partners that are aware. You strip the dignity of the people impacted by issues that were covered up. Does a problem exist or not? They can’t address quality problems that they claim exist.

@xj I missed the intent of this last message. I can see people are upset about Marshall, that's not the intention. If people are honest about what happened, no one in their right mind would have let this facility get so far, that's what's most frustrating.

@sr do I get to ask too or is that rocking the boat. I need to ask them why what I signed for is not what the reality was

@s4 Do what's expected, show up, and don't rock the boat - that's all they can ask.

@qy Sure but when I get told something and i follow through with my word and get called arrogant instead of getting treated like a human. It’s not on me at all. I don’t think it’s a situation where one side is equally responsible. There are the bad guys and there is the victim. It really is that simple in this scenario. No ambiguity. And brown people harmed me and I’m brown. It’s not racially ambiguous either

@qm I’m skeptical of both parties. Too often, well-intentioned rhetoric masks policies that ignore economic reality and ultimately harm the people they claim to help. One side frequently promises the world without accounting for consequences; the other may come off as abrasive, but at times produces tangible results. Outcomes matter more than messaging.

Do you have a picture of BF, JF and DF wearing hard hats and holding those gold painted shovels at the site? It should go into the wall of shame Ford’s EV failure exhibit at the Henry Ford Museum which will open in 2026.
