@v5
MSO at Pocatello have been doing a lot more than outbounds and air test for more than 10+ years now. Brake shoes, air filters, traction motor lubes, DPU linking, replacing HOT devices, jump starting, hand brake inspection, etc the list goes on and on.

The reality in life is the more you know the less you have to work, and that’s not just at the railroad. Half the electricians can’t troubleshoot well enough and you expect machinists to do it all? Good luck with that! I honestly don’t care if they cut me and try to get someone else to do my job. I can get a job somewhere else and the railroad can pack sand. There’s already a ton of power out running poorly with various gremlins because of the lack of qualified people to troubleshoot them. Let’s go ahead and get rid of the rest of those troubleshooters because of hours signed off! That sounds just about like something the railroad would do! Let the grunts play the time game and the minority who can fix things machinist and electrician alike keep things rolling.

I’m hearing electrician are on the chopping block since they have so low sign off hours compared to the rest of the crafts. Omaha has been doing a camera/manager study and found electrician always huddled in a group or in cabs for hours. Going to cut 25% and have machinist do some of the work under Incidental rule a lot of electrician work hrs have been dropped. Machinist will start getting trained electrician work towards the middle of January but really how hard is it to walk around with a coffee cup and talk about how great democrats are. North platte is the ground zero for the test which will spider web to the rest of the shops they are the new pipe fitter craft to be eliminated. Reason why they haven’t hired electricians for years in north platte. Electrician are to stupid to realize what is happening, keep sitting in those cabs 6 hours out of the day thinking you are not being watched because you are being put into a graph to eliminate the brother hood of electrician. when machinist have crazy amounts of sign off hours and always on the floor working. Interesting how San Antonio and Pocatello started the MSO doing outbounds and air test and North Platte has not yet. I could be that most small shops have already started the process this year but has not been publicly stated and the large shops will start in January. Anyone knows anything?

@kx I talked to guy that got laid off there. Did they get rid of a craft like pipefitters? Are they trying to make a one person super worker?

Either alot will happen come January or nothing at all. Only thing I know is fnos are taking over outbounds in January at north platte. They will be doing air test and more machinist will be forced into the shop.

Typical Union Pacific person in north platte. Entitled person that has a big lifted truck and thinks they are irreplaceable. Terrible with money and on their 3rd wife that’s been ran though the whole town.

70% of north platte People.

They think if you know someone at the lake then they are the kewlest person alive. Just another person that doesn’t know what they are talking about, stiring the pot with no evidence.
