@wk many of the remote people I know have been here a long time. Anyone that was remote and new was pulled in already. I dunno if it's like that everywhere though.

Nonsense, yes remote employees existed before the pandemic but at nothing like the numbers today. Plus with few exceptions (for niche roles), you didn't get hired remote, you had to be there a long time and have proven yourself.
Also, it was more challenging to move around or get promoted, (not impossible) but a lot of hiring managers didn't want remote people. That was the trade off, for moving to a nice warm, low cost. low tax state and being able to save time and money on things like commuting, work outfits, dry cleaning etc.
Now they have created a two tier system, with remote people being flown in once a quarter and given money for a nice hotel and nice meals. They don't even have to eat the swill at the cafeteria.
Remote hiring is still going on though it's mostly cronies.
All Remote employees should be forced to move and put up with the terrible work environment here. They should not have special treatment...
@rr while you’re correct you won’t overcome human psychology. Offer folks 6 months to relocate, give them exit packages if they don’t want to move. and stay hyper local to DMV area and Texas hub. This whole bs with having those folks come every quarter is weird and wasteful too. If I drive 30 minutes from Brambleton and Timmy drives hour and a half from Maryland you can’t be serious for us to be ok with remote fellas chilling in their backwoods South Carolina with dirt cheap cost of living. Get real buddy, probably majority of those folks also moved during covid too.

Rumor couple weeks ago was end of month, so I wouldn't be shocked if it's this week on Friday.
Fire every remote employee if RTO is the mandate.
