Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Did You Know?

Did you know that 250 HCSC employees retired last year? Did you know that the number is 300 and counting this year? HR er um the "People" division knows. But they're talking about it as a trend, not another indication that the culture is in the toilet. If these were just "front line" employees but executives are heading for the exits because they can't deal with the craziness anymore.

Did you also know that beginning in January, employees in Richardson and Chicago are going to have to swipe their badges to leave the building at the end of the day? This is not a rumor. This is going to happen. It's been in the works. They wanted to do this earlier this year but came to their senses when they realized that along with making 75% of the workforce remote that would be too much.

Today is the first day of the Pulse survey. You're kidding yourself if you think it's anonymous. Even HR stopped telling that lie. They're very sensitive to negative comments and identify who says what. But you probably knew that. If not, you do now. Comment at your own risk.

One more did you know. HR is getting ready for another one of their "operations" (layoffs) in 2027. This won't be because the company isn't making money. It's going to be positioned as "eliminating redundancies." This is not a rumor either. This is going to happen.

@wd What do you consider "old" 40?

So? There are a lot of old people with many years here. Did you expect people to work forever?

@r2 the peter principle at its finest. A bunch of bloviated blithering buffoons with no skills and good old boy networks running this place into the toilet.

@r2 my VP isn’t old so I can’t blame incompetence. He’s just a dipsh*t . He cannot retain info, has no clue on what he is doing and lacks integrity and ba--s.

Seems the only person not retiring is my director. Everything she does is so dated, don’t get me started on the number of times we have to repeat stuff because she can’t remember. She just got promoted! Incompetence at its finest. Our VP knows nothing so he thinks she’s great. Some of these people that are way past retirement age and are losing cognitive skills need to be pushed out.

@a7 This is so fu--ing stupid? How do you think people worked before badging?

@a7 You're on the layoff telling people to get back to work at the company they're talking about being laid off from. This is a good example of how d-mb it is here.

@a7 retirement is a choice. If you knew any recent retirees you could ask them why they’re retiring sooner rather than later. I have. And, you have no idea what the age distribution is of the employee base or if the number of retirees is low based on that population.

@ae Its a conversation with your manager on working in the office and when you are logging in a home, if you are hybrid.
I don’t have an issue with badging out.

Btw, Shannon is an awesome guy. I’ve spoken with him, shared ideas.

@aq define plenty. You can’t. You don’t know even 1% of employees to talk about what plenty do.

@ae Yep, I leave at 3pm then log back in. If I leave after 3pm the buses and trains are packed. But I start earlier too.

@OP Love the badge out...There are plenty of staff that badge in and then just leave when they feel like it. I have even heard 1 employee encourage another to do that along with saying "oh they will never know" and in a meeting no less. Let's learn from the best huh? LOL

@aj they will do it prior to avoid bonus payout.

@a3 Count on this happening after bonuses are paid. Even HCSC isn’t d-mb enough to walk people out before then.

@a7 Tell me who your boss is without telling me. Next you’ll come up with an excuse for why HR creates policies that they don’t follow them.

Credit for the day? You mean working isn’t enough? What happens when you don’t come into the office? What “credit” do you get then? Maybe respect work/life balance, trust your employees to do their jobs and not have them on calls literally all day and into the evening and this isn’t an issue.

Get some actual professionals working on org design and then talk to me about redundancies.

@a7 shut up Shannon.

You assume people leaving at 3 are done for the day and assuming that shows your lack of intelligence. Most simply log on at home and work longer.

@OP People do in fact retire. Retiring is “a trend.” Numbers sound low relative to the employee population.

You should have to badge out to get credit for the day. “Coffee badging” is stealing.

Blue Pulse survey - there is a whole other thread of people agonizing over it - go join in.

Redundancies should be eliminated. If you are one, make yourself valuable either here or at another company.

Get back to work.

Any idea when in 2027 they’ll be doing a layoff? I think the policy is if you’re laid off before the bonus payment in March (but after 12/31) you’re still eligible for the bonus for the prior year, right?
