targeted females who came back from maternity leaves?

Has F5 targeted females who just came back from their maternity leaves in the past year in this layoff ? I heard atleast 3 such incidences.

@nf What was shared is extremely serious and painful. It’s not about ‘obsessing’, being pressured into such a personal decision by a manager and then losing your job would be traumatic for anyone. Please don’t dismiss their experience. The feelings here are completely valid, and I hope those affected are able to find supportive people and resources right now.

@m2 You must really be upset about losing your F5 job, to spend this much time here. When someone drops you, a company, a boyfriend or girlfriend - do you obsess over it or move on? Clearly, you obsess over it. You definitely have a lot of growing to do as a well adjusted adult.

Maybe start with AA.

Were they part of BIG-IP Next? Sounds like everyone was let go from that. If it so happens to include women, minorities, seniors, protected status, etc., it won’t matter. They have a solid case for the layoff.

Takeaway, don’t let the product, service, or project you’re working on fail. If it does, expect repercussions. And if it’s not your fault, you tried, then yeah - it su-ks. But the company is on solid legal ground laying everyone off that worked on it.

@ey In the recent Seattle layoffs, four managers were let go- three of them women. One of these female managers led a team with the highest percentage of female sdes in bigip

Is anyone else noticing this pattern in other orgs?

F5 RIF took place because the company eliminates certain job functions, BIG IP Next Products is a failure. If the 4 ladies were on Next team, their job loss is justified. It has nothing to do with retiring from a maternity leave.

It's legal to terminate people in a protected category as long as being in the protected category wasn't the reason for termination.

there was a great software manager that was on FMLA that was terminated when she returned - this a couple of years ago. You would think this isn't legal but there are ways that corporations can circumvent the intent of what FMLA provides and its "guarantees".

i hate to even admit this here but my director talked me into getting an ab*rtion so that i could focus and work hard through last quarters sprints but i still ended up getting laid off yesterday and i don’t know what to do now
