Just got a note to meet up with my manager tomorrow. Is the axe about to drop…. Anyone else get impromptu meetings set up for tomorrow? In cloud.

@k5 % charged is based on the amount ABOVE the offered amount.

Most normal companies who have humans running them, negotiate this in advance with long term employees and everyone is happy on departure.

IBM letter is only an offer. They have designed it so there is no way to counter offer except through a lawyer so they hope you go away. Don’t. They won’t go to court. The courts have not been siding with them. So they’ll settle with you. It’s all a game and it’s just a process they designed. Play it. And it is soooo easy.

Ottawa lab in Canada, Cognos Analytics, Band8.
Received the notice on November 4, 2025.
My last day: December 4, 2025.
Learned that 196 people were let go at the Ottawa lab and 222 people at the Toronto Lab in Canada.

@ja hey Ja - I'm guessing you're referring to Samfiru Tumarkin in Toronto, and based on what I've seen from that firm, that's whom I will be contacting when my layoff comes. Do you happen to know what their percent fee would be to take on an IBM severance pay case on contingency? I believe it's in the neighborhood of 30% but have not been able to have that confirmed. I also don't know if they charge that on the full severance amount, or just what they negotiate beyond what IBM has offered. Any info you can provide as much appreciated.

Anyone in Canada should be searching for good employment lawyers. A quick search for lawyers with IBM Canada experience will bring you to Gregory Milwid v IBM Canada who so far got the largest settlement in history for a non-manager (Band 10) he got 27 months severance + kept his unvested RSU's (444 of them).

Pretty sure staying the 30 days is required to get the severance package.
Why would you leave before 30 days? You literally get 4-months of pay by letting the RA get fulfilled.

You should start job hunting TODAY, but don't leave your IBM position.
That is a disservice to you. Let IBM do the hard work of RA'ing you. Don't make it easy for them.
