@ht remaining hybrid set us apart and made it more attractive to stay at this continously horrible company. Ive su-ked up a lot of things under the guise of "at least I work from home".
@28p takes 40 mins to leave taking the elevators during rush hour or lunch. Insane
@ax according to some higher ups one of the chiefs had a non negotiable stance on coming in on mondays. Apparently its the most important day to be in office however if you work in buying, mondays are silent hit the pavement type days with reporting. No collab between teams and partners happen on monday. ITS OUTRAGEOUS!
@j7 Are you for real with that? We also have a COM business. I am assuming you have never worked on the floors above 9 at HSQ and there is in FACT no space for us to be in 4 days a week. quit your store job that you low key feel some type of way about and come work in buying :)
Macy's merchandise assortment is seriously lacking excitemen, creativit and quality. The mens private lable is laughable.
The hone assortment subpar at best. The trim a tree department looks like dollar store merchandise.
Tony needs to recruit new talent in the corporate buying office.
@je screen shots. And saved in my "hospitality" folder.
MCE and MCW will be the only two regions left after it’s all said and done.
With so many Macy's stores closing less corporate people needed buying division should of left NY stayed on west coast a more talented group ..sales down NY TEAM HAVE NO CLUE haven't seen a junior shopper in years. corporate people should work in stores Xmas week close the store fold tables work returns to sales floor have a grumpy customer not be in a warm secluded office work Dec 26 mandatory in store work . Etc.
Chicken or the Egg. If the buying office dont have the team selling in the store no reason to have the buying office. But when the buying office messes up ki-ls us in the store
@b0 I agree! Everyone is scared too though
Store employees should settle down. Without us corporate folk there would be nothing for you to sell or fold! You signed up to be in store!
@j7 No one is dismissing store work. Their jobs require physical presence and ours don’t. Corporate talent wasn’t hired for floor execution, but for strategy and support roles traditionally based in office settings. So it’s fair to ask whether mandating extra days actually improves outcomes rather than assuming everyone just wants to avoid work.
@j7 I would worry about keeping your store open. In 2020 the Macy's brand offices were all moving to Long Island City and taking 23 floors of a new office building. Bloomingdales moved into the adjacent building, in Long Island City. At that time the move was cancelled due to the pandemic. Maybe there has been enough job cuts over the last five years to make everyone fit in HSQ, I do not think so but could be wrong. I would rather see the money for offices being spent on stores( customer facing), so they do not have to close. Just my opinion.
Get over it. The store teams (which by the way earn the money for everyone in corporate to j
Have a job) have to leave their netflix and go to work 40-60 hrs a week.
There is plenty of office space, so use a different argument.
Most major retail corporate operations are requiring 4 days in the office. Macy's has been slow to adjust. That being said, if you are going to require 4 days in the office you need to have appropriate office space for everyone. If this is going to require capital expense to accomplish, I think the money should be put into stores and not making new offices. We were going to need almost a whole building in LIC to house everyone. I do not think you are going to do that easily in HSQ unless you take floor space from the sales floor( which you will have to explain to Wall Street). Very hard to make the case for more office time, with the praise of strong business and merchant organization.
@ec would you rather go to LIC?
Funny how none of the elites answered any questions, even though the invite encouraged us to use the Q&A feature during the webcast. Some #trust they are creating.
So after they did construction during covid when nobody was in the office (smart) to make it more of an open concept, they are now going to do construction again to cram us all back in (not so smart). And I'm assuming the areas that are 2 days a week will go on the same days, if not it's pointless. So if there's only 100 bookable desks how are we going to fit?
@e5 so nice they are closing stores & DCs but prioritizing construction for corporate workers who been doing their jobs fine for 6 years hybrid and remote. 🤔
@e4 they already have the list of stores going out of business. They are working on arranging where the merchandise is being moved to ie :DC's
More stores closing come new year. DC's are closing as well. SW will be closing. Its not only Backstage there. Its the entire facility. They haven't told those working there yet. Along with Chesire I've heard.
Could be the way to get some to quit first and to see the number of people that do before they do a layoff in corporate
Did anyone catch the FAQ memo where it said flexed employees can get ‘creative’ and work in the pantry 😆
At least let me bring a bean bag and work on the floor.
The one thing Macys had going for them was the hybrid work schedule. Now they’re going to pi-s off all their loyal corporate workers.
👋👋👋👋👋👋
I guess they didnt listen when we all said nobody wants this. Its the lack of trust for me - ive done my job at home for 6 years....now your saying im not capable of that? Gtfo.
The update was that starting May, they’re requiring mandatory in office attendance. Some teams will be 2 days, others will be 4, very few will be remote. Some will be in HSQ and others will be in another location. These details are still undetermined. There will be construction within HSQ to make more office space, which is the reason for 6 months notice.
Anyone that was actually in the meeting have an update?
This is why they aren’t going to do layoffs. Right now they look good on Wall Street. If they do layoffs people will question them. This is their way of making ppl quit to lighten the workforce. This company su-ks and they couldn’t care less about what is said on their surveys.
Is everyone ready for the meeting in 20? Let’s see what will actually be said.
Some will go to LIC
And seat where? On the floor?
We need to push back on the 4 days in office. This is a quiet layoff. We should band together and protest this nonsense.
There's no way we go from mostly remote to 4 days ,there has to be some in between
Why only for hsq and not John's Creek?
@as they want to give 6 months notice. Tony and his bright ideas #aboldnewchapter
Gives time to relocate.
Why is it 4 days and why in May? Seems excessive and random.
Mandating 4 days in office starting May
