Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Scrambling to find a new paycheck; did my best and they just threw me out

No idea what is wrong with me if I can't keep a job at a place like this

@OP

Either way if you were doing things right you shouldn't be "scrambling". Means you weren't prepared for management fu€kery of which at Ford there is plenty. Take the lesson and don't let it happen to you again.

@j8 It's hilarious how many people are either ignorant of how our mfg plants work (many still function with mainframes) or come to this forum as non-ford employees to bi--h/complain/troll.

@j8+1kpz0cwqq I know right? It sounds like the antics that were going on circa 2000-2005 in the FMCC basement. I remember that era as I had just hired onto Ford and was thinking I had made a horrible mistake.

The 3rd shift computer operators would use random peoples desk phones to make long distance calls. The person whose desk phone they used would then have to prove they weren’t the one who made the phone call. There was an investigation and the supervisor was told to advise his team to knock it off.

One of the po-n surfers eventually got fired after there were blanket warnings to knock it off. That guys life imploded afterwards, divorce etc. Another po-n guy was a contractor in the Mainframe Performance group and was asked to leave due to performance.

There were people smoking both tobacco and wacky tobacco in the building after hours. They cracked down on that and invited people to leave.

They instituted tracking on the printers and you had to enter your cdsid at the printer for your print to actually print. Then later they locked up the printer paper because je-ks were stealing reams of paper.

2008 cleared out a lot of the problems as many took the offered package and others got clipped in the layoff.

I was so glad when I transferred out of the mainframe area.

HOw did you manage to get fired from ford? I worked with a guy who was printing off po-n on the Data Center printer and didn't get fired. There was another guy printing off color flyers using the Mainframe Performance teams fancy color printer. Another guy was making hours of calls to Aruba. NONE OF THESE PEOPLE GOT FIRED.

No, that's the wrong mentality and a wrong approach. Don't get any impression that Ford is an easy place to keep a job at. If you are good at what you do, you have flaky management to deal with. If you are bad at what you do, you have to know the right people. Yes some people seem to stumble their way through and survive. These people in a lot of cases may be too d-mb to recognize they are essentially walking through traffic in terms of their career. Ever see those types of people that are in danger but they are too dull to whats going on to recognize it? Yeah thats them, not you. Don't for a minute think getting kicked out is any reflection on you. That's giving Ford way more credit then they deserve.
