Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Word is getting out!

I had a dr appt yesterday. He asked who I work for and how it’s going. I said EDJ and that it’s not what it used to be and is getting progressively worse. He said he’s actually heard that from several patients lately.

So, word is getting out in the community! I figured it must be given the FA losses, and nna and auc missing goals by a long shot, but this was interesting anecdotal evidence!

@j1 I’m leaving in a few weeks and came here mid career. tbh 30 days in I was telling friends who had been laid off that EDJ was better than no job but to look elsewhere first. The people were nice and tried to be helpful but this isn’t a place where mid career people will do much to add to their resume. Agile transformation, ER, etc have really shaken people here to their core. They’re defensive and nobody wants to help each other. Now there’s really nothing to come here for. They’re hiring consultants to do all the really interesting work so I guess if you want to move the needle at Jones go to work for Accenture or Deloitte.

I’ve always been befuddled by Edward Jones’ reputation as an employer of choice. At least for home office employees, its pay, time off, and benefits have long been far below average. It’s always put effort into being a pleasant, stable place to be, but it doesn’t even have that to sell anymore. Having left a while back, I’d only come back if I were desperate for a place to bide my time until I found something better.

@a4 yeah. No. My dr has a sister who also works at Edward jones. He mentioned it to ME… said so how ya feeling about all at your employer? I told him. He said sounds about right, just like my sister is experiencing. Sounds like it’s going to he-l in a hand basket. I said yup. He said wait it out and only do what ya gotta do, that’s what I told my sister. Good advice, doc!

Edward Jones reputation as an employer of choice and as an excellent place to work is ruined. So many of us lament the loss of good leaders and our friends who took the VSP. I don’t really think the leaders care how we feel, how demotivated we are, or just how terrible it is to scrape by day to day. All the employees are telling family and friends how awful a place it is to work and how disorganized the company structure is now. Edward Jones is ruined. I don’t even see a way for it to come back. Last week’s announcements of fresh partner retirements is more salt in the wound. Especially with the addition of new partners who are — yet again — external hires brought in to make things even worse.

From beloved culture to toxic workplace, Edward Jones reeks.

@as they’re all making over $20 million a year. What do they have to worry about?

He probably feels bad charging you because your insurance coverage from EJ is such s$!t that he knows you’re paying an arm and a leg (maybe literally).

This place is on its way to being a wasteland of talent - home office and field.

Don’t think for a second DC, HM, SM and PP aren’t worried. In fact, this is why they are doubling down on their stupidity.

@a3 this 100%. ELT, the yes men GPs, and the other room IQ clown running this place into the ground have fumbled this 2030 vision HARD. I keep hearing about record breaking numbers, best year ever, "growth this, growth that", best rankings here and over there from pay to play surveys etc. When you actually look at the big picture and numbers it is terrifying. ELT and PP have managed to alienate every single group of people that made this place unique, including client base and new would be FAs. Now we just play monkey see monkey do with the big guys on wall street and everyone is laughing at us. It can still be fixed but these a--holes have fragile egos and will continue to double down on failure. Absolute insanity. Everyone at home office is either checked out and waiting to retire soon, checked out and looking for another job, or sticking around doing bare minimum hoping something good happens post-PP. The GPs think everything is fine and they deserve more money, but nothing extra for the peasants under them. They actually believe their own BS cult like talking points.

@OP, I think you and you're Dr are very LATE to the party. The word on Reimagined and folks leaving is now 2+ years.

Sounds like your doctor tried to first establish rapport with you with some faux empathy. After that, then how did it go? How did he try to scare you and rattle your cage, and what did he try to push on you? Screenings? Procedures? Meds? Jabs? Some sort of surgery? All of the above?
Modern medicine has jettisoned first do no harm and we are all viewed as wallets.

Jones already alienated an entire generation of wanna be day trader zillenial dudes. Ask about it in any investing or fire subreddit. Now they're on the cusp of alienating the bread and butter clients with some of these new "you dont matter" offerings. Lots of rightgul dis-ease about us
