Do you guys understand that the most of VZWs MM band is supported by fiber, right?

@h7 Were in the process of buying Frontier for their fiber. What makes you think it’s going away? If anything it’s going to replace 5G home internet.

@h7 Verizon home internet is a wireless data service, FIOS is fiber optics (voice/data/video). Yes the majority of customers have and will continue to streaming…which literally what FIOS is. I think you are confusion fios as “video” service.
FIOS certainly is not dying lol, 2 gig (symmetrical) has been rolled out

Fios is a dying service like all Cable TV which is migrating to streaming.

The Broadband service (Verizon Home Internet) the company offers is not as profitable.

It will likely take a numer of years (2 - 3?) before Verizon gets out of the Fios business entirely but I wouldn't count on retiring from that position!

@d8…. He won’t bust the Union. He doesn’t need to. In 5 years most people will leave on their own. Then they will have the right amount of people in place to keep maintaining the network. No need for an ugly strike after all these layoffs, especially with Frontier coming on board.

Who knows maybe 30 plus years maybe 10 months . I am concerned with starlink taking market share and possible contracting out w2 jobs with contractors. If they offer a package to the more senior techs maybe they won't have to layoff the new hires. With the unknown of healthcare cost 5 to 10 years out. I think alot techs will just hang around for benefits. Focus on doing a quality working safely and coming home every night. Too many of the new hires are slash and dash and we are losing customers and our good reputation because of their lack of quality. I really think a prolonged strike would be the final nail in Verizon s coffin and the union really has the upper hand in the upcoming negotiations Verizon just laid off alot of their potential contingency workers.
. Good Luck

No more than 30 years. Or as long as you can put up with it.
