IBM celebrates its 115th anniversary

IBM celebrated its 115th anniversary with a global campaign focused on continuous reinvention. Instead of massive public fanfare, the company marked the milestone internally and across social media with its employees, highlighting its evolution from early tabulating machines to modern AI and quantum computing. The company and its community celebrated through several focused initiatives:Digital Employee Campaigns: Current and former IBMers (often called "IBMers") across the globe shared stories, trivia, and corporate pride on platforms like LinkedIn using the hashtag #IBM115.

So all they could do was Blue Washing to celebrate 115 years in business?

@hg why not if you are ready to work your a-s off and successful in completing the PIP to the satisfaction of your master which would soon come your way. IBM does thrive on su-kers like you who take the bait and who know one day you will be hand picked to spread lies to the market just the way you do it here today.

@h5

I have over 35 badges and 145 hours of learning. That will catapult me into a band 7 then eventually one day being an executive at IBM

@gy from your postings, sounds like you're the wierdo and the prevert pandering to the tastes of Robbie the Hood and Krabanaugh. all you have is your worthless Think40 cr-p and badges which are totally worthless.

@de can you give us a blow by blow account of what your mother and sister did with your church going first line, so we can all understand your background and what your family is all about. We wouldn't dream of sending you to the psycho ward without some positive proof.

And please don't leave out the badges that Krispy Kreme promised you for your antics with Krabanaugh and Robbie The Hood. Or the details.

@e5 And 115 bullsh-t points for 115 IBMers randomly chosen by Bob. When I left they called these blue points that can be used to buy merchandise at inflated price.

@ee You are an HR bot and you don't even know it. No professional worth their salt values IBM badges. Less useful than my dog's cr-p. The latter could be made into fertilizer if one were so inclined. IBM badges, OTOH, begin as garbage and end as garbage. You're a self-deluded HR bot.

@dn

I've been at IBM for a year, worked on automation projects, dashboards, communications, and incentive systems. If I were an AI bot, I'd be the first one in history that has to sit through corporate meetings, performance reviews, compliance training, and annual goals.

As for IBM badges, employees earn them by completing training and developing skills. You may not value them, but plenty of professionals do.

@e6 Gin "N Tonic was the biggest thief BUT she has been superseded by Alvind Krispy-Kreme.

She put her incompetent relative (her niece ?) in charge of the Watson Health division and they lost more money during the time the niece was there. Sadly this is what happens when you have crooks and thieves who run public companies.

@e1 Don't forget that each executive get a $115,000 bonus in honor of this anniversary. That's for all their hard work and "hard choices".

@OP Need I say that they have put 115 lucky people in each division on PIP, asked another 115 for RTO, yet another 115 for RA and marked 115 for low performance to be eliminated soon? And yes 115 from friends and family have been identified for promotional opportunities and raises.

@de More lies. You are an HR bot in India. Nothing else can explain your lunacy. Not even your mother and sister and your first-line manager. No sane human brags about their useless IBM badges. Only an AI trained by Arlind and his goonies could be so ridiculous. Your nonsense needs to stop right here right now.

@d5 I think they did things differently at different sites. I was in a Cambridge MA office and the Facilities Management crooks were giving the executive furniture to the movers - all of it for FREE. This was during the Gin 'n Tonic era.

@cb actually not true. At least back in the old days of the 80s and 90s. IBM used to have a real estate portfolio of hundreds of worldclass office space and a whole DIv called RECD real estate contruction div. Well run etc. Then the G Man Gerstner started the fire sale and I recall in Boston as they down sized going into an office being cast off and buying some of those commercial grade file cabinets for $20 or $40. Wish I bought more. Still have them about 40 years later. But yeah is there a company now on Mother Earth more cheap than IBM?

@cy, IBM Indian HR Troll lest you forget, you need to give a nod to Arvind Krispy-Kreme for introducing the corrupt curry culture to IBM.

Never before have so many IBM US employees been impacted by so many layoffs in so many underhand ways.

On this milestone, I want to give a special nod to Mr.Gerstner At a time when many questioned IBM's future, he stepped in and made difficult decisions that helped steer the company through one of the most challenging periods in its history.

Turnarounds are never easy. They require courage, discipline, and a willingness to make choices that may not be popular in the moment. Because of leaders like Mr. Gerstner and the dedication of generations of IBMers, IBM remains one of the most recognized and enduring technology companies in the world.

From mainframes to AI, from punch cards to quantum computing, IBM continues to evolve while honoring its rich history.

@cd but you forgot to mention and thank all those employees who were laid off by IBM and had their jobs shipped off to India. And recklessly pursuing the India Business Machines machines failing strategies.

Right ?

Do you think IBM will be around in the next 150 or even 200 years ? Yes or No ?

@cd At IBM, "continuing to reinvent themselves" means throwing sh-t at the wall and seeing what sticks. Which lies do we think consumers will believe? Pick the top two or three, then do a PowerPoint and advertising blitz until the public realizes we're full of sh-t. Next, layoff a bunch of employees to make it look like we're focusing on a new technology and becoming more efficient. All the while the executives rake in the bonuses. That's reinvention the IBM way. What a shithole company.

For more than a century, IBM has helped shape the world through innovation, from tabulating machines and mainframes to artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and hybrid cloud.

Few companies can claim a legacy spanning 115 years while continuing to reinvent themselves for the future.

Congratulations to the employees, retirees, clients, business partners, and leaders who have contributed to this remarkable journey.

Here's to 115 years of innovation, resilience, and solving some of the world's toughest challenges—and to the next chapter ahead

@ca if they are lying around, get some network cables and gear too if you can - always good for yard sales and the like. F&O wastes hundreds of thousands of $$ every few years on cabling and network gear which they literally trash.

IBM used to literally give away (FREE) the corporate executive furniture to the movers at the site I used to work at. And all of it was in fantastic condition and the movers would resell it at a huge profit (they got it FREE, of course). But the management crooks in IBM Facilities would never sell or give anything to IBM employees. So much for people thinking IBM was a great company to work for. It wasn't, particularly with the outsourcing of jobs.

@c9 That's a lovely idea. I'll do all three: 115 pages for the symbolism, a ream of white paper for the thrill, and a ream of colored paper for my stretch goal!

When the day of my RA comes, and it will no matter how hard I work or how much I accomplish, I'll revel in my supply of papers, sharpies, pencils, and conference phones. I may even set up a hoteling space if I can figure out how to get those things to walk.

@c8 steal a whole ream of printer paper and you'll be much happier with the result. Why must you count out 115 pages for IBM's 115th anniversary ? It's a case of cheaper by the dozen.

Arvind and IBM will steal your job, but you stole a whole ream from the printing room and walked away with in. Bonus points if you can steal a ream of colored paper, rather than plain white paper.

In honor of this anniversary, I will steal 115 pages of printer paper today. Because I'm lazy, I'll use "poor man's AI and robotics" to do the counting by printing out 115 blank pages. That also looks less obvious than pulling out a ream and counting 115 pages. Oy, such deep thinking and planning has already exhausted me. But I guess that's what we do at IBM: THINK.

Bob is 99% based on Anthropic Claude... So, definitely not an IBM product... IBM is paying 100s of millions to Anthropic.

People internally are going crazy for Bob, wasting their time and IBM's money with no product gain! It is laughable!
