Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What is our Layoff Package?

LCS here. Pretty nervous about the immediate future outlook for my group. Is the layoff package generally 3 months, or more or less? And if you find a job within that timeframe do you have to pay it back? Wasn’t with XOM back during the covid layoff, so just wondering how it all went back then.

You guys are kidding yourselves if you think there's a "package." Company NSI's ppl then offers a PIP or a PIL. Up to you what you do then. Try to keep your current job or walk out with the "Pay-in-Lieu." Note that the PIL has a hidden caveat - if you start a new job in those 3 months, they stop paying.
2020 "package" was approximately 1 or 2 weeks' pay per year of service. Minimum 2 weeks pay.

ExxonMobil doesn’t do anything more than what is legally required or required to avoid lawsuits. In USA everyone gets 3 months pay. That is all. Doesn’t matter how long you have been with the company. And if you are in som middle of nowhere town like Carlsbad, Midland, or LaBarge they won’t move you or help you sell your house or break your lease.

LCS has been a fraudulent type organization to begin with. Looking at the VP and employees they chose it was clear that none of them had any talent or desire to be productive but all were good at pretense and playing games. I think layoff is not appropriate - most LCS employees should be PIP'ed as soon as possible.

The policy has been in the United States since 2020 that if you are PIP'd / NSI'd you only get 3 months severance (it is called Pay in Lieu) or PIL for short.

In Europe, Singapore, Canada, and all non-US countries, there are laws on the books on what your severance/redundancy will be if you are laid off.

Didn’t we only give three months pay to people laid off in 2020 regardless of experience? It was a cruel joke compared to what the other majors were doing

There will be no layoff package for Low Carbon Solutions. They will be PIP'd, NSI'd, and NI'd like everyone else in 2026/2027. Expect to see 20% NSI in the near future.

Find colleague you got laud off in 2020 and ask them how generous the severance was from the largest private oil and co. It was the worst. Shell, Chevron, BP, Lyondell all had better severance packages than peanuts XOM offered.

Industry standard is 1 month salary per year of service.
EM likely lower than that.

Remember, the C in LCS stands for Cashflow...

If true layoff will be more than 3 months (dependent on years of service). But no set packages. Dependent on the company program going on at the time.
