Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

I know Nike is a footwear first company…

But when are they going to start making better apparel?!

So much space in Lulu/Vuori/Fabletics zone but Nike continues to make awful fitting and feeling clothes.

Earth to design team, how about some fitted clothing, better materials, etc. 25.7 was a nice attempt but not everyone wants baggy.

The market is there and consumer has proven time and time again they will pay for it. Not everyone is an oversized couch potato. Can’t even get a golf polo that isn’t “standard” fit aka baggy fit AND can only be tucked in without looking ridiculous. Every weekend I watch golf and poor Scottie looks like a sale rack at Kohls. How about shorts? Running shorts are great, golf shorts? Baggy and long. Joggers? Only in sweats. Golf joggers are a joke. Who are the models shaping these designs/sizing? Want opportunity, look at apparel.

Oh yeah, global tech bad blah blah layoffs blah blah MD devil blah blah

@ew I’d have to disagree a bit. It feels like Nike is prioritizing inclusive design, focusing more on diversity, equity, and accessibility rather than tailoring strictly to fit, athletic, or slimmer consumers

The problem is that it’s not you they’re designing for, it’s the 19-24 yr old phenom (or so they think).

High margins make for slim material and construction options

Coming from someone who used to be a leader in apparel, I can tell you exactly why. It's because apparel doesn't get the resources, attention, and funding like footwear does. Even though, for the last 5 quarters apparel sales have been better than footwear. Given the current state of the businesses, hopefully this has changed. But knowing Nike, I highly doubt it. They get in the way of their own success.

Considering they fit on dress forms from 2008, that explains a LOT.

i bought some nike apparel during sample sale and wore to office, also bought some counterfeits from elsewhere

guess what, the counterfeit outlasted my genuines, genuine started flaking and the pants tape dropped off.
who in the right mind sc--w their own brand harder than counterfeits?

Spot on - was in Nordstrom last week and every brand in the women’s athleisure area looks levels better than us in terms of fabric, fit, style, and color choices. When you want to purchase multiple Zella (Nordstrom’s in house brand) items over Nike, we have a real problem.

Since you work at Nike you make too much money to know to not buy Nike apparel… It’s not for you.
