Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford vs. GM vs. Stellantis

How does employee satisfaction compare at these three companies. I managed to take a peak at the GM thread, and there aren't many posts compared to Ford's. Could it be there's less to complain about? I always thought it was worse there.

Ford has many complains because the company destroyed many lives and pis==sed off many experienced people with the lay offs conducted by new idio=t=s in the company.

@e4+1kcezxfh2 slight correction: Stellantis employees have seen the future, and it will be called LeBaron.

The thing about Ford is their core leadership favorites - at all levels - are incompetent, back stabbing, slimy, frat boy / girl types that collude with HR to eliminate their competition. True knowledge and talent is relentlessly attacked and sidelined until they are buried forever or eliminated.

Ford employees complain because they think tomorrow might be better.
GM employees don’t complain because tomorrow is already decided.
Stellantis employees don’t complain because tomorrow might not include them.

Pick your poison.

GM employees generally use the public subreddit, not here, but people are weary to because everyone from all over OEM and suppliers read there. I know my friends and family even outside of automotive do, and it’s talked about around the office, Mary mentions it at all people meetings. Most of the people on there are software though, a lot of the people there tend to have grievances about things that aren’t as prominent in engineering/product development.

I have to say if I were laid off at Ford, I'd hope they'd offer a severance, but whatever. I'd put up no fight, wouldn't even ask why and I'd return my things immediately. Just to have it over with. For some people its the kick in the rear they need.

@OP

General questions for people that bounce around between these 3 companies:

Have you thought of branching out to other industries? What makes you limit yourself to automotive? There are plenty of industries that could use the senior engineering expertise that Ford seems to be discarding.

These engineering processes and knowledge are applicable plenty of other places. You don't owe these companies a thing. Branch out and diversify yourself. You'll be a leader to survive many conditions if you do this.

Ford blows. Worst place to work. Even Chrysler was better. GM was the best hands down. Waiting to go back.

I worked at Ford for about 20 years total (I worked there twice) and at GM for about 12 years. GM was much better. They treat people with dignity. Actually promoted people who deserved it. I had interesting projects to work on and was able to obtain patents. It was a fun and interesting place to work.
It broke my heart when I got laid off from GM. When I got laid off from Ford, I was just angry at them. Actually, I still am.

I left Ford for GM. It's night and day. Better benefits, better leadership, and most importantly, people are actually happy working there. Doing get me wrong, there are still dissenters, but Jim Farley is Mary Barra and their version of Doug Field was fired.

I’ve worked with all 3, GM is definitely the best and Ford the worst. GM people are not as arrogant as Ford, I’m talking about executive levels.
