@e6 the idea was destroying cnn for T not that it's profitable at all lol
netflix doesn't want any cable properties in their deal ..
@ea Overpaying for sports rights is still a deeply troubling -- and d-mb -- move for any corporation. Let's not forget that Little Davey paid ONE POINT ONE BILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR for UFC rights. There is no chance on earth that increased streaming or ad revenue will pay for even half of that absurd sum.
The guy has no idea what fiduciary responsibility is, because he's never had to be on the financial hook for anything in his entire life. ALL he wants is to be PERCEIVED as a Hollywood bigshot, even if he completely destroys the company/ies that he buys up with his father's (and Saudi Prince Bonesaw's) money.
All the money in the world can't buy the poor little rich boy any business acumen.
Sports is king. It’s one of the few live events people are watching these days. Look at NBC. They’ve spent billions for new rights and funneling everyone to their Peacock app. Paramount had to do the same or they are sc--wed.
@ae CNN? The amount of money being spent is orders of magnitude greater than CNN is worth. It world be cheaper just to buy the spin off company after the Netflix acquisition completed since Netflux isn't getting CNN. It's the IP, and negotiating power that comes with owning two of the five largest studios that's on the line.
WB also has a lot of Sports rights international and domestic. I would assume that the international distribution could be used in the negotiations with the NFL.
Now that Nepo Boy has hired one of Trump's legal wizards, I'm sure there's a lot of new external (and wicked corrupt) pressure for WBD to have nonconsensual relations (if you know what I mean) with the Ellisons.
The more likely a merger the more likely the layoffs
he must be willing to pay whatever .. my boss seems to think this is all about streaming .. and CNN
