Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Who Decides the Layoffs?

Is it typically your direct supervisor, one level above them or two levels above them? How does it work?

@gh Im @dc. I do have a clue. In my org it's not a secret. Sad for you that your org seems more secretive, but no need to come at me for it.

@dc You have no clue, but you are good at guessing. You also realize there are no consequences for bad advice on this anonymous web site. My favorite kind of internet hero.

If you in HR benefit, you will be replaced by AI. HR AI will give consistent answers to questions. I am tired of HR being all over the board with answer to Benefit questions.

They print out all our photos as 1x3 headshots, hang them on a wall, get smashed on cheap booze, and then fling darts until the appropriate number have been achieved. All who were not impaled keep their jobs.

@d3 actually I know exactly who will be making the decisions for my group. It's not my supervisor. Did you have better wisdom to impart or just upset you don't have anyone you can trust to ask an innocent question?

A lot of answers from people who have no clue but will convince you that their guess is a good answer.

It's above the Director level. Even the directors have no input as to who fills which boxes.

Never ask a supervisor about layoffs. They might think you want to be laid off.

Just depends. My direct supervisor won't be making the decisions. They'll be made at a higher level. Surely it depends how your org is set up. Maybe you can ask your supervisor. They know who will be making the decisions.

All depends on your SGL,…18 and below,…your manager/supervisor (typically, sgl 16 to 20) will have the most influence and then normalize across the group(s) at the GM levels, and will be finalized at the LT levels in collaboration with the HRBP.

If you are good/HP/liked and just in a bad spot, you might get to high-grade via some TMT efforts.
