Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

terminated after requesting ada

I worked for the company for years and have had medical issues less than a month after i requested accommodations via ada as a disabled vet I was terminated, before i could even get my accommodation equipment to work. it makes me think with all their finiancial woes that they are terminating people and i almost worked for them for a decade and had outstanding performance reviews until i got sick.

I can also tell you there watson IVR system is plagued with thousands upon thousands of Bot calls retrieving PHI which is a massive HIPPA violation. After auditing them and telling them of this and applying to ADA they axed me.

But all the non-stop meetings about resume building and things hinting at org changes and such have been going on and i know alot of people are on the early retirement track.

I fortunately documented all the HIPPA violations my notification of them to them and notified it officially to the government today.

This has been going on for years, I hope they enjoy the Hipaa audit let alone the FTC violations.

To the military veteran OP. This is the other military veteran that posted on here. Not sure if you are still reading these. In fact, I plan to stop reading soon myself.

Anyway, I just wanted to say please hang in there and don’t worry about this lousy excuse for a company. This will all pass and eventually we both will forget about our sour experience here.

I actually am glad I an gone now that Humana and really the health insurance and healthcare business has reared its ugly head.

I do not plan on returning to health insurance business any longer and will probably do something completely different.

They way they treated military veterans is shameful and also how they treated older works and American citizens is shameful. Based on this sour experience, I doubt I will ever speak a good word about Humana nor any health insurance company again. And I will probably be an Original (Traditional) Medicare advocate here on out.

Take good care. I do care about you and hope things turn out really well for you. Remember, this is only temporary.

@kn please, do not do that. No company, nothing is worth that. Please reach out to someone you know or talk to a friend. There may be someone you know that needs to talk too. You are not alone and you ARE valuable to all of us.

@kh Yes they are firing people and hiring new people at lower wages and blatantly committing unlawful terminations because the company is going under, and they are probably just going to settle. They only care about the people they foresee as leaders and overpay them for doing nothing, and that's why the company is going under. If a person is afraid to do their job, they are only guaranteed to fail, or do it wrong. They threw away so much money in training and tacit knowledge when they chose to discriminate against me because I applied for ADA and am a disabled veteran. There is absolutely no direction from leadership or talent, they are merely there to micromanage and reduce the workforce as the company loses more and more market share. They forced the retirement of a lot of good leaders and brought in people who are just corporate snitches who target disabled people and veterans and find a way to terminate them, because they have low intelligence and read Ayn Rand all day they are easy to control and make illogical, and unethical decisions at the behest of their slave masters. Self help books that justify being a narcissist I mean how else do you live with yourself. You are a monster, and stand for absolutely no principals. I don't know how you define a slave, but losing your humanity, and autonomy for a role at a collapsing company is absolutely appalling. It must be a terrifying reality, when you realize you are nothing more than a corporate puppet who has nor morals they stand by and you did something extremely unethical, that is going to cause me to kms.

@dr I was curious and asked what department because there have been people leave without explanation. I am not a manager and not a tattletale. As I said, just curious if OP was one of those that left. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Do not answer that last poster’s question about what dept you are in.

And definitely do not contact that reporter that offered on here.

Anyone that you contact whether it be a lawyer, a reporter, a veterans organization, do it independently and do not share that with anyone on here, or with anyone that works for Humana, nor even knows anyone affiliated with Humana.

This site has good actors and bad actors. The good actors are other employees or former employees that are sympathetic because they either went through or are currently going through what you are and those people care.

Then, you have the bad actors…those that lurk this site and try to create sub-diffusion or find out whom needs to be on Humana’s radar. These could be directors, managers, HR folks, legal, PR folks, or a hired “reporter” that works on behalf of Humana. They do not have your best interest in mind but rather they have Humana’s best interest in mind.

I totally agree with the challenging them from a legal aspect and also about contacting news media.

I would add to also consider contacting any and all charitable groups and organizations that have made it their mission to watch out for and have the backs of our military veterans.

Once word gets out to Humana’s non-patriotic and even abusive behavior towards our military veterans, it will not go well for Humana from a PR (Public Relations) standpoint.

Peace Brother/Sister in Arms! I am also a military veteran who also was mistreated unfairly by Humana. And I am sure their are others.

@c4 - I agree on the unemployment thing, in general, however if this were me, I'd hands down challenge it. No doubt about it!
I'd also be sharing it with that news company someone else mentioned.

@c2 that’s unlawful and any leader that paid attention to the HR training would know that! Truly despicable and if you resign, you can’t get unemployment. They are so Ridiculous!

I was made to resign after I took STD but not before the leader's demand that I tell her WHY I was on it.

@OP - wow that's a pretty big deal...literally everything you said could be a lawsuit, including being targeted after requesting ada accommodations. I know of 2 that had to take STD for health and were targeted right after returning.
