Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Yes, RTO really is that bad (not the return part, the office part)

For those who don't currently work at Ford, you may think the posts about having a chair taken, restrooms in disrepair, parking lots on overflow, and people camped out in cafeterias that were not made for working are all an overstatement. As a current employee I'm here to tell you they are absolutely true and being reported by our coworkers on an increasingly frequent basis. I have personally witnessed each of those things in my building in Dearborn.

Current employees, I encourage you to join the viva engage channels where folks are sharing their experiences from around the world. You can share your experience, you are not alone.

In Mexico, they are commuting 1-2 hours each way due to the traffic congestion around the location where the Ford campus is located. In Dunton, a 20 mile drive can take 1-2 hours with traffic.

These are not employees looking to complain for the sake of complaining. These are employees who have done what was asked and showed up to their assigned location, only to be continually failed by leadership and Ford Land.

Someone posted about occupancy limits and fire code violations. They are cramming so many people into spaces that were not meant for people to be sitting at. Cords are draped across tables and the floor since there are no power outlets on tables that were meant to eat lunch at.

It doesn't have to be this way and it shouldn't be this way. Please speak up. Use the onsite feedback site that I'm sure has been shared in your channels. This is not healthy, it is not productive, and for those of us who truly want to see the company succeed, it is accomplishing nothing but tearing us apart.

The wider we share our experiences, the more chances we have to put some real social pressure on those who made these decisions.

To all of those showing up, hang in there and know you're not alone. And also, I'm sorry, we used to be so much better than this.

@10e Is this site a support group now? I thought I went to “thelayoff.com”, for you know, layoff information and rumors…. This is not what I signed up for. What’s next a group hug and a potluck?

Management has heard you. Heck, they've heard other management complain and they still don't care. Speak up if you want, just realize what needs to be said has already been said and made no difference.

I’m so frustrated with these facilities I can’t even begin to go off or it won’t stop. But how about bathroom facilities and fresh food options for starters. Jim Farley, this is ultimately your call and you have failed miserably.

What else can we do besides submit random messages to ford land. If they really cared they would take a company wide survey and then I’d like to see the stand up and present the results but it’s pointless. These guys are just politicians in the end. They’re working on it. Yea right sure. 2027 is right around the corner. I’d like to see leadership work from the cafe and eat those processed sandwiches they serve us. There should be an organized walkout or maybe we should all form a union bc that’s what it will take for them to listen!

@10b I think you're making a hostile interpretation intentionally to dismiss and discredit people sharing opinions on a board that is centered around that. Instead of addressing or making any points directly, you rely on throwing a blanket over them, further stigmatizing. mental health by using it as a we-pon to attribute to anything you don't like to here. Then you'll say something like "see what i mean?" to comments that productively call you out. You'll end up saying this comment exhibits signs of an acute crisis or something totally false. I don't know your intention, but I can only ask why and assume that you're up to no good. Based on the timing of your comment, I noticed you commented in another thread in a similar fashion. Stop pretending to being pious. You can troll, but it's just disturbing. There was a case on the news where I saw an individual go on sites where it is supposed to be meant for a support group and they basically just used it to torment vulnerable people. It is sick and twisted. People come here to share their experiences, not get an intentionally abhorrent blanket thrown over their experiences by people with ulterior motives. Go ahead and call what I said crazy if it makes you feel better about yourself. Or do something better for yourself and others. Choice is yours.

@106 Mental health breakdowns showing up on this site are more common than recall at Ford. These people are terrifying.

@105 Life at Ford is stressing people out to mental breakdown and violence? What is happening in the offices? I'm just an observer. Is RTO really getting to people?

How long until someone goes postal?

If you don’t know what that means, look it up!

Hope I’m not there when it happens.

@ar Yes, it's one lone ranger just causing issues. Unprovoked! It was a ghost! Boss is senior. Watching from above. Like a grown up. With more height. All along, boss was one step ahead. Thank you for your grown up analysis. Boss is right, always.

Since they are cramming everyone into these spaces, how long until there is an outbreak of something? India can't RTO because of a hepatitis outbreak. It is only a matter of time before Dearborn suffers the same fate. RTO conditions are third world.

Let me get this straight… our executives were very confident in our RTO policy and that space will be available. All of a sudden we now get emails from leaders asking us to continue to provide feedback regarding onsite work issues we are experiencing, and that they are aware of the shortages of desk and parking.

This is exactly why this company can never succeed with the most incompetent executive leadership imaginable. You rush this policy and were confident we will be ok yet there are issues across multiple if not all bldgs.

Honestly, I get in around 6:45am stay a couple hours and leave before 9am.i want them to prove to me that they have the resources to check I’m in the bldg less than 6hrs.

I am RTO in person in the office today in Dearborn and no issues finding a desk or parking spot. You people here are professional complainers.

I bet you blame all your problems (home and professional) on Ford leadership.

@c9 that is what the "Business" majors in charge of Ford Land think work is like. They have no idea what engineers actually do.

I think @a6 is being sarcastic. I always laughed at the pics they post of their new facilities or what they render and post. Everyone smiling and drinking coffee sitting around an open area not appearing to really be working. 1 in 5 actually has a laptop open and looking at it. They will never show the sweatshop atmosphere we really work in.

The bathrooms are really bad, I've had trouble getting them to flush, I have a fair sized bowel movement and I wipe as I would at home. Yes, I wad the TP - that sh-t is sandpaper if you don't. Try to flush and it clogs every time. I try to take my BMs at work to save time as I've lost a lot on the commute time, so I can recoup at least some of it in the bathroom. In fairness, I don't eat enough fiber and sometimes it's like wiping peanut butter off a poodle back there.

@ac

That Ford land guy is a lying weasel who is spewing garbage off the top of his head with zero data to back his statements up.

Would Ford leadership accept that method of explanation for a vehicle engineering issue?
