I agree. The party is over. Humans doing tech work is in the sunset. I'm looking to totally change what I do to make my bills. I recall a comment on IRC (that in itself dates me) 25+ years ago... Invest in toilet paper. Everyone needs it, and it cannot be replaced by email.

Dan said he believes we have 1000 days until Artificial General Intelligence. I took that as the max time for most Verizon employees is 1000 days. Maybe I misconstrued it, but I don’t think he would be saying this in a company all hands meeting if AGI was not going to impact us?
Dan even mentioned the field techs probably have 5 to 7 years. They will be replaced by robots. Field tech jobs do seem a lot more secure than office jobs.
I don’t think under Dan’s leadership there will be much hiring many people back? It’s possible and probably very short if you decide to do it.
