Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Some people ARE safe

I've seen many people make huge mistakes, and I've seen who faces the music and who doesn't. It's not about the severity of the error, but about who made it. Some people are untouchable. They can do no wrong and they know it. When people say nobody is safe, that's not true. There are favorites who can do anything and still avoid being reprimanded not to mention laid off. Knowing the right people pays off here, with interest.

They are safe until they are not. Nobody below Senior VP level is too big to fail. One leader is gone, their minions will be replaced as well to make place for a new leader and their new team.

@OP They may be safe, until someone retires, another reorg happens, or the boss that's carrying them gets put in a pinch. No one is safe. It's profit over people.

Nobody is safe. Once their directors or leadership retires or pushed out - the ball rolls downhill.

@cq Plenty of examples in history in multiple large corporations doing exactly what you said to get promoted and getting either nothing or laid off.

So you need to examine the people that do get promoted and look for the patterns therein. You will find the common threads are nepotism, favoritism, and boot-licking.

@cq My a-s. How about corporate practice what they preach in their ethics policy? Favoritism, nepotism, cronyism, s-xism, ageism etc are not acceptable. Period. Maybe you enjoy being slimy but some people have strong values and expect fairness. You probably also think we don’t need DEI. 🙄
