Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Did you notice any trends in your market layoffs?

It seemed like our VP got to keep their good old boy system while really talented people got asked to leave. I think it’s always been that way but it was hard to hide this time with people let go who were dependable.

My channel recently hired a good amount of newer people over the summer. They laid off 25% of us and only one was less than four months in role. Lots of tenured people were let go and all the newbies will be forced to pick up slack. Wage reduction was a primary part as I’m sure it is in most layoffs

VPs and the like of management level should have the right to decide who to keep and who to let go based on whatever they think would deliver, VP in this case is responsible if their team fail. One change I hope VZ and Dan to start forcing is adding accountability and that the only thing that will force VPs and the like to keep the best instead of their buddies.

A lot of competent people were let go and a lot of stooges weren't, may they fail miserably.
