Demerger of US entity and calling it Amoco is a better deal than merging with Shell. We don’t want anything to do with good for nothing brit companies.
Shell already publicly stated last year there will be no merger. They view BP’s culture as toxic. Shell will partner in assets where it makes sense on the cheap or acquire individual crown jewels but that is all
There is always a non-zero chance, however small that might be.
