Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Chances for internal mobility after 6/10 layoff?

I was hit with my 2nd layoff in two years today. I finally thought I had a foundation for recovery and it was an illusion. I’ve applied to hundreds of jobs before this one. I’m still exhausted from the previous job search. I’m desperately looking for a role, any role at this point inside the organization to stay employed. I’m applying internally and externally. Any advice? To make matters worse, I was served with an eviction summons trying to catch up from the last layoff today. Just my luck.

@c7 i understand the sentiment but also recognize how two things could be true at once. The benefits alone was an investment in me as much as I invested back through my work. Citi wasn’t a bad organization or environment to ME. Nor was my team. I understand from a business perspective why these things happen but it’s my job, despite hurt feelings, to maintain income and some level of stability in this economy for my family. Internal mobility makes the most sense despite the circumstances.

@c0 oddly I was at Citi previously and returned. Same exact restructuring took place and I left on my own terms to avoid this same devastation.

I am really sorry for you! I really hope things work out for you. You can absolutely get hired internally. Don’t worry about what other say, although this place is sh-t; everyone needs a paycheque. I hope things work out for you! All the best!

Sorry to anyone who experiences this. But, why in the world would you want to go back to such a toxic environment? The way employees are being treated is unacceptable and it’s getting worse. Management is at its worse and provide absolutely nothing in terms of assurances or proper guidance. Going back is like a dog returning to eat its own vomit. SMH…

I wish they’d lay me off! I’ve been asking for a package for over two years! I literally do about one hour of work every day. It’s ridiculous.

I'm really sorry to hear. It is very difficult. My biggest recommendation is to reach out directly to Talent Partners and Sourcers and build a relationship so they can help as much as possible. They can't move mountains but if you stick in their mind they will remember you. Look them up on LinkedIn, they are all aligned by specific business areas which will help.

Another tip is don't mass apply to every thing. Be conscious of being realistic and also don't discount lateral or a level drop as a temporary fix. There is mo longer a requirement for 12 months in role so if a more suitable role comes up you can still go for it.
