Was anyone else spoken to about the new policy under Athena that work from
Home employees are not eligible for promotions or to even get new roles?. So essentially we are stuck unless we want to move close enough to one of the 6 designated hubs in North America. Another way for Pepsi to save $ in hopes that we leave willingly instead of firing us and having to pay severance. This is getting old

Everyone should hope there isn’t a formal announcement or it would like this.

@sp it’s not being a cry baby actually. It’s called being frustrated. Because of this new rule I can work harder, perform better, and do more then my counterparts who sit in hubs and they’ll be the ones promoted, getting raises etc when I have to sit back and watch. I was promised a promotion because of all my hard work and for going above and beyond. It was then was presented to HR, sent to Athina and denied because she’s on some sort of power trip. Like I’ve previously stated, I would understand having to go To now report to a hub if the role I accepted and am currently in had a location associated from the get go. But it didn’t. It was posted as a location free role. So me and anyone else in the same Boat shouldn’t now be stuck because someone else has decided to change the rules. At the end of the day we’re supposed to be supporting each other. Not being je-ks calling people
Names and tearing others down.
Cry babies! Be happy you have a job. In 2 to 3 weeks you may not!
Any change to WFH would be stupid! I am way more productive at home, I am on at 6am with no commute, eat lunch at my home desk while on calls and with no commute I am usually on until 6-7 pm. Can anyone sitting at HQ match me? Get there at 9, hour lunch plus desk gossip sessions and its a ghost town by 4 pm! I thought not but everyone hates us why? We do all the work!
@mx heard it from a senior dr and the same thing affirmed by another director. Several orgs have communicated it already. I’m sure Plano will start filling up more before the new year.
@kt Where did you hear this "Plano RTO 1x3 with one day for the org/team being Monday or Friday"
I don’t know why people are downvoting my comment on WFH. I’m not excited about it either. It really messes up my life because I was trying to leave a hub, and now I’m stuck. Sounds like broad communication is coming, but no advancement opportunities for remote, no chance to become remote, and no future remote opportunities. Also Plano RTO 1x3 with one day for the org/team being Monday or Friday. I’m pi---d about it too
Total BS, FACT...because of the current wfh and flexible working schedules. Productivity is higher than ever and sick leave at an all time low!!
From what I’m hearing, it sounds like this is company wide, not just Athina’s org. Heard RTO is also happening 1x3 for Plano
@bz while I understand people’s frustrations with those who work from home, the role I am in was location free when it was posted, when I applied, when I was interviewed and when i was picked for it. They didn’t make an exception for me because I didn’t live near a hub. I actually used to work in an office in prior roles but that office has since closed due to budget cuts and reorgs. Therefore my salary has always been based on where I live so I most likely do not make the same amount as those who live near and report to the hubs. At the end of the it’s not fair to now require us to either uproot our lives by having to move to a hub across the country (at our own expense) or tell us we are stuck in our levels.
@br the 6 hubs are Chicago, Plano, Purchase, Mississauga and then 2 in Mexico
It’s not just S&T, it’s across the company. I’m glad they’re reinforcing the policy that already exists (3-4 days in an office) AND putting structure around WFH roles. Why should half of our team pay to live near and commute to a HQ, while the other half can live in low cost of living areas with the same pay and doing the same job? The job should be remote or in office, it shouldn’t be based on the person.
@OP Then they need to get us local teams and not a team half way around the world that is available for 1 hour a day U.S. time. Sick and tired of cut rate Indian companies taking American's jobs.
@OP where are the 6 designated hubs?
Yep. Just got informed today and it’s such a dirty trick. While legal it’s highly unethical behavior. Many due promotions this year got shot down and are now being told they can’t advance unless they move or leave the company. It also may or may not be company wide. There are MANY fully remote positions outside of Athina’s organization. So if they don’t have the same “policy” handed down, there are still WFH options within the company. This is a terrible and unnecessary call considering the structure of this particular organization has teams that coordinate from across the country and around the world. And hemorrhaging great talent with many years of experience over this is a short term solution for the bottom line that will have long term costs.
I have worked as a payroll admin for my entire career, in office until covid. I applied to another admin role in my zone and was denied-the excuse was they didn't want payroll issues. Nothing has changed in thst zone. if you are an admin and do your job well, the ZSL doesn't promote you.
@am you clearly don't have the ability to understand that this is a Global company with teams spread across the world. Moving to a "hub" to talk on MS Teams to other people makes zero sense.
I’ll speak for everyone at the field sites - If this is true, it’s great. Time for the takers to get to work.
This is true! If you don't live in a hub, prepare to be stuck in your role unless you are willing to transition to one. Also, relocation funds will not be distributed.
Got denied for a role this week because I didn't live in a hub. The manager was transparent and said Pep is not sending out global communication on this but want managers to do the dirty work. They're all freaking out because some of their best talent on the team is remote and is expecting a promotion this upcoming cycle. These next few months are going to be interesting because the word is getting around fast.
@a2 they aren't going to put it on paper because there will be exceptions
Does it apply also to Indian VPs not based on any of our hubs?
I was spoken to yesterday by my boss and director about this said policy. And how it affects me and my eligibility to grow. So the policy is very much there. I was told that Athena didn’t want to be the one to announce it so she was letting others do her dirty work
This policy isn’t in writing nor are there specifics/stipulations about this “policy”. It’s all bullsh-t
