Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Plan HQ movement date

When can we expect Plano HQ to complete and people can move in? Is it summer of 2027, summer of 2028 or 2029?

Two years to build a campus that big? We have been building a 2800 square foot home and have passed the 1 year mark and still not complete. I would add 4 years to 2028.

@e6 you forgot to double or triple the costs as well. Layoffs will be fast and furious starting 2028 to pay for the massive overrun's.

What is a 10K commitment if they layoff everyone else.

Is new Plano campus going to have that much space to close all ATT campuses in other cities and fit in Plano? I doubt that. I think only NJ, ATL and Plano will prevail, as they have both closed NJ yet.

If you know anything about timelines here is you double it then add 1-2 years, so probably 2031.

The Plano campus is not expected to be completed before 3Q 2028. At that time those is Dallas will first need to be relocated followed by any additional groups or employees they determine to assign to Plano. So likely mid 2029 before all those assigned to Plano will actually be reporting to Plano.

@bv

You can bet those new jobs created will be contract workers and offshore workers. T is moving (overall) away from badged employees and moving towards lower cost employees- sad, but true, just look around.

@as this is not correct as AT&T has committed to the city of Plano to house a minimum of 10k employees at the new office. As well as creating additional jobs over the next decade

If your job has overlapping responsibilities, you will not be going to Plano. You are being misled. Many people think they will receive an invitation to Plano. This opportunity will only be for corporate employees, which consists of about 6,000 individuals.

Wrong. ATT will be in Plano 100% not 20. They want to reduce the headcount by 35000 within 2 to 3 years. Personally I think we’ll abandon many parts of rural America.

@a5 They can’t back off after Plano city giving all the promised tax breaks and stuff. They will complete it, just don’t know how many will be there to enjoy the pickleball courts.

20% chance there is not even an AT&T around to complete the money-wasting eyesore. Amazon Wireless will have no need for any of that.
