Top management is just lounging around while allowing toxic behavior to spread like wildfire. People used to care about their work, now they just try to survive the madness. It’s contagious, demoralizing, and scary. Watching talented people change because of this environment is heartbreaking.

if you call a person smart they go away smiling.
Two Decades Ago?
Dude, this is not the same AT&T I got laid off from 5 years ago either.
There were many versions of AT&T two decades (20 years +/-) ago.
The LD carrier + CLEC competitor - Management in this group showed why they were dying. But they maintained their position on top of the food chain.
The corporation that bought out weaker (at 1st) LEC's and let the duplicate employees go.
Then the corp(se) bought out the stronger LEC's and let THOSE duplicate employees go. (this was me)
Once you burn through the duplicate, unnecessary personnel (like I apparently was), the incompetent management can no longer wall-paper over the flaws and warts they refuse to address. This is when the spiral downward starts. And leadership does d-mb stuff like, "let's buy DTV".
Personally I hope the company doesn't go bankrupt until I hit Medicare age due to my high priced (although subsidized) medical insurance I was able to get when I "retired" when I was told my services were no longer needed (which was cool - I no longer needed to work for those folks).
I hope T can limp along a few more years but for those still young and T-employeed, keep that resume updated. It's definitely NOT the same company it was in the early 2000s.
@bj *you’re
You grammar indicates mgmt of some type.
@a9 100% agree. It’s the child like millennials and zoomers.
Yes su-k up to your director and shaft everyone else !
I sit and watch all the youngsters on there phones all day. Talking, playing games, watching movies etc. As I answer twice as many smart chats as the New kids. Is that the smell of Gen Z entitlement I smell Yep. And the boss with 9 years does nothing about it. Pathetic. That’s the new and improved at&t.
When you started working at T you ate apples. Now you need applesauce since it is softer.
@ev you need a 50 year mortgage. You’re so stupid and out of touch
20 year worker here, how do you plug in the internet? Asking for a friend.
Anyone there more than 10 yrs needs to be surplused , they add nothing to their role , esp those who’ve only had one major employment at AT&T only , they need to move on and give talent space to grow plus you are too expensive!
Believe me, it's still "cradle to grave" if you play your cards right.
I like watching the gleams in the newbies eyes start to fade away. It makes me laugh. We’re going to start an over under bet on how long it takes.
@bm you, gooompa. Now get out of the workforce and get back to the home.
There would have to be a MAJOR culture change from BOTTOM UP.
Right idea, wrong direction.
Hey old guy, is that you that I smell?
@bj - says the guy who has 5 years tenure.
who hurt you as child??
2 decades = 1.5 decades too long. You’re only as great as the ideas you had in 2008. You’ve been placeholding adding absolutely nothing for the past 15 years. Face it.
Hope your surplused soon.
The current ATT is not the original ATT/Cingular Wireless. It has changed since SBC bought original ATT/Bell South/Cingular Wireless. They have terrible leadership teams and ruin the original ATT. I have seen many talent folks (a lot) left the company and don't care anymore. The existing ones left are just doing the 5x8 and see ya.
Why are you still here then?
OP-
Sadly, it won’t be changing anytime soon.
That train has already left the station.
There would have to be a MAJOR culture change from TOP down.
Some people always making excuses about why they aren't happy even though they stay.
Stankey cut the dividend and managed to keep his job. Nothing has mattered since that.
@an Stank is certainly part of the “rotary phone” generation. Why isn’t he part of the targeted audience to be kicked to the curb? He has stayed well beyond his shelf life.
Stop trying to get into everybody else's business and take care of yourself. That is all you can do.
Rotary employees in a digital world.
Two decades? There is something called the internet now.
If not able to find self motivation, these were always marginal employees.
at&t = 🤮
Such exaggerated language while providing no actual examples. "Toxic" is completely overused these days.
Yeah okay, but who is gonna feed you your applesauce?
Thank the Stank. He simply wants you to commit to all his bad ideas.
