It's not going to stop until we get to under 100K employees. Get used to it. It's expected to last another 4-5 years depending on how quickly we retire the legacy (copper) network.

No. Then they should do it the correct way. Lay off. Pay the $2+ billion in severance it would cost.

Instead, they are making everyone's lives annoying so that they quit - which is bad business.

I understand T is in massive debt and don't have money. But, $2 billion is peanuts compared to the $50+ billion John Stankey lost on acquiring DirectTV and WarnerMedia.

Additionally, he is spending $23 billion on the EchoStar spectrum acquisition. Oh - and did I forget to mention the stock buy back that would cost $20 billion he announced within the last 12 months. But, $2 billion to pay severance to properly reduce headcount, or buy ourselves a decent Headquarters in the suburb is too expensive. Fu-k Stankey and fu-k you.

Stop complaining. If you’re really as capable as you claim, then go get another job. The reality is no one else is hiring you because you do not have the skills companies need today. You do not contribute but expect a paycheck like it is guaranteed.
The entitlement mentality from you guys is unbelievable. Your argument seems to be that because of your nationality or skin color, everyone else owes you a living. That is not how the world works. You have no skin in the game, and every time things do not go your way, it is always someone else’s fault.
Companies are not here to feed you. They are not charities. They exist to produce results, grow, and stay competitive. Right now, you are just a drag on profits, and the shareholders have had enough. Take a look at how much revenue the competition generates per employee. That alone should make it clear why they want you out.

“ Controversial Termination Practices
Recent reports suggest AT&T has used policy violations as grounds for layoffs:
At&t laid off several of its long term, good performing employees under the pretext of employees violating the code of conduct policy for failing to come to the office for at least 3 hours. This is just a very lame excuse to target employees who had served the company for more than 20 years”
True and this did happen.

The Human Cost:
However, these business decisions carry significant human and social costs:

  • Long-term employee displacement: Many affected workers have decades of service
  • Community impact: Office closures affect local economies
  • Knowledge loss: Experienced workers take institutional knowledge with them
  • Morale deterioration: Remaining employees face increased uncertainty and workloads
