Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

There’s nothing worse than constantly expecting layoffs

People start turning on each other, and work becomes a battlefield overnight. The saying “dog eat dog” has never fit Intel better than it does now.

What do you expect?
Intel has never cared about the people.
They just care about what gets done.
Not about how hard you worked or the sacrifices you made or if you worked yourself to death and died in the parking lot. BTW I know of several people that have done that.

@hb Jeff, I'm embarrassed for your parents. They raised you better than that.

Co-Workers aren't your friends ! Most don't know jack except for pushing tool reset buttons or moving out process lots daily ! Repairing electrical and mechanical issues is a shot in the dark to them ! Too many give ups and I can't always to break things down ! Plenty of pattern wafer scraps and breakages to come !

I decided to leave in the next wave. This is getting ridiculous! I won't ever look back as there will be no Intel to see soon anyways!

I'm pretty sure there are lots of things that are worse than having a well-paying job that provides you with healthcare benefits. People all over the world would (literally) ki-l to have what you have.

@ba sad fact 15 years of Intel on your resume makes 95% of us unhireable. 5% hired into great companies, rest are looked at like damaged goods. I'm starting to uber to prepare. I will get lots of downvotes reality su-ks.

There IS something worse. Sending out hundreds of resumes and not hearing back from anyone for months. Seeing your savings depleting.
It’s easier to land a job if you are already employed. Don’t do more than the bare minimum for Intel and use the rest of your time to find a job. The dog eat dog culture at Intel was bad before, now it’s gonna get exponentially worse.

Why would anyone expect a turnaround before you heal from this?

My boss’s boss gave the team a “working at the speed of trust” lecture seven years ago

Today he’s working for another company

The "dog eat dog" mentality was bad when I left 5-years ago, which is why I was thrilled when they offered me a nice chunk of change to leave (along with many others).

You find out who your true friends are during layoff periods, and in my case I had no friends, so be skeptical of those who appear to be your friend.

Trust no-one.

Expect the worst and have plenty of cya materials. If you are going to continue to work at Intel you need to have a defensive posture ie watch your back. Find some allies if you can but be careful who you trust and always verify. A horrible way to work but there aren't a lot of alternatives in the job market. I don't believe Intel has hit bottom and if a turnaround of any kind happens it will take years. A lot of damage has been done. There will be a lot less than 75k employees before things start to settle down. Have a plan.
