Thread regarding SAP layoffs

What do we know about the coming week?

I'm asking specifically about the US.

@b9 … and by the way: Trust the board!

The sun only rises and sets because Chuck Norris allows it to do so.

The sun will rise, and the sun will set. Seven times each.

Some clown will either praise the board or post some non-funny Chuck Norris stuff. Or probably both.

Apart from that, I would not expect anything special to happen.

It will consist of 7 days. Five of those days will be what are commonly referred to as "Weekdays". They are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. There will also be 2 outlier days, referred to as "The Weekend", that SAP acknowledges, encouraging you to enjoy time with your family while fully expecting you to do several hours of work, including catching up in emails. You are not paid for "The Weekend" (but, let's face it... you're salaried, meaning there is an unspoken understanding that you work 24/7. If you have children, they'll be fine, and they can catch up with you at your funeral.)

During each of the 7 days there will be moments of daylight ("The Daytime") and darkness ("The Nighttime"). If you can manage sleep, you will do that for roughly 3 hours during the period of darkness.

Additionally, there will wind, rain, snow, sun, clouds. You will definitely get email. You may get some physical mail as well, but this is not very common any longer but does involve some complete stranger (whom SAP's recruiters would never think of suggesting for any role) approaching your home and leaving garbage for you to sift through.

You may find moments of joy, but for the most part you should expect to find the entire experience unfulfilling. You will count the days until you are able to experience something that is referred to as "Vacation." In the US, make sure you use all of your accrued "Vacation Days" or you will lose them. This is one of those special perks you get for living in "The Greatest Nation on Earth." Aren't you lucky?

If you're looking for recommendations as to how to overcome the nagging sense of dread, you may want to ask ChatGPT.

Good luck.

The well-informed circles have not reported any news or rumors. I would assume nothing will happen.
