How are you all so mentally strong to take the continuous layoffs, relocate states for RTO and adapt to so many life changes?
It totally amazes me what T employees go through every day and still try to put everything aside and focus on work.
I lost 3 colleagues today and sick to stomach returning to ghosted work location.
May be I am getting too old for this, but ever since I joined T, I have seen people in my team go every year.
Bro, because I need to earn money. You have no idea how I think of just not existing daily and if I get hit by a car or whatever that I will be ok with it, at least i dont have to rto 5 days a week. My doctor diagnosed me with depression and wants me on meds, but I refuse. I am exhausted, exploited, stressed, trapped and cant quit because there's just nothing out there. I have been applying, gotten several interviews, sometimes canceled before the scheduled appointment... it does really su-k. Nothing pans out. But what can I do? This is my reality. I do not have motivation. On weekends i stay in bed. I cry at least 3x a week and very irritatable with loved ones.
A contractor that I worked with many years ago shared the following with me, and it's just as accurate now as it was then...
"The difference between you (an employee) and me (a contractor) is that I know when my job ends"
It's called masochism. Google it.
Expect everyday is your last day. If you finish succesfully the 5pm that day is done. That's the culture they built with poor management and bad hiring. No one is your buddy here.
There's an old saying when it comes to AT&T: The only constant is change. And here's another old saying about AT&T: AT&T will step over a dollar to save a dime.

At T, the job uncertainty is ALWAYS an ONGOING situation.
Only 1 time per year? Seems like it is the time. Can’t remember far enough back to when there was no layoffs during a year,
You my carry the company but wireline built it. Gave you ground to stand on. Respect your roots.
I am not stressed because I am in mobility. We carry the company.
They periodically send email about the "when you go crazy" medical benefit. Always give a reminder that it only includes like 16 mental health sessions and then your on your own to lose your mind.

When you have no other employment options to choose from, you gain mental toughness really quick.
Sadly, it will continue.
It will NOT get any better. Just being honest.
