Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO su-ks, and anyone who disagrees is a total clown or has no independent thought or free will

It’s honestly wild watching some of the loudest RTO cheerleaders and management bootlickers act like loyalty is going to save them. These are the same folks who defend every decision no matter how destructive, as if leadership is going to knight them for “service.”

Here’s the reality they don’t want to hear:

The company doesn’t love you back.
Being the loudest “yes” person has never saved anyone from a layoff here. If anything, history shows the opposite: the people who blindly go along with everything are usually the first considered “nonessential” because they bring nothing unique to the table.

And let’s be honest… a lot of the hardcore bootlickers aren’t exactly the strongest performers. They survive by attaching themselves to leadership and hoping that being overly obedient somehow equals value.

Spoiler: It doesn’t.

While they’re out here glazing every leadership move like it’s divine strategy, the rest of us have actual skills and can see the writing on the wall.

Bootlicking isn’t job security.
Competence is.
Flexibility is.
Retaining real talent is.

And none of that is reflected in the current path this company is on.

So maybe instead of worshipping the people who would cut them in a heartbeat, they should start advocating for the changes that would actually help everyone… including themselves.

@b8 if you get a cancer i should get a cancer too? You must be a boomer or very rigid manager with a boring or no family, work in office should be a perk not must

Hard work doesn’t save you here. Staying relevant and having something to put on a PowerPoint does. Same as most companies. If you want to advance you have to kiss the a-s and lick the boot. Never pushback. Network with the top and have buddies in leadership. That’s how the world works. The smartest people in the room see all the problems, typically say something and have a solution. Sadly those people are usually the workers and not the managers. Smart people build companies, d-mb people work for them.

@c1 "The new standard is 8 and Skate."

You said it. 8 and skate, it can wait. People that don't get this, or say shut up and get back to work and the ones gonna be replaced by AI (or trolls). Used to work on weekends, week nights, holidays and now the comp stays in the bag.

Said bootlickers are the same ones knob slobbering in the comments on Insider with every lame video and other piece of excr-ment thrown up there: “ Awesome!!! So proud to be a part of this AT&T family!!!!”

Here’s the thing, brown nosers….there is no “good” list you’re being put on for that. They don’t care. And you look so utterly foolish. Have some self respect. I’m embarrassed for you.

"Management has always been expected to work overtime hours. Work outside of core hours in the office is par for the course."

That is no longer the expectation of the management employees. The new standard is 8 and Skate. When I leave the office the computer remains off until I return to the office the next time. Great culture that has been created.

In this culture, bootlicking is greater job security than anything. The reality is that there really is no job security unless you are a bosses pet. Until Stank hit his head count number, no one is safe, regardless of how much they contribute.

There are a ton of workers who have no problem meeting job requirements in the office. T knows this and has the upper hand.

@b8

"I want you to work hard and sacrifice your personal comfort for your paycheck like many of us do. WFH is really only about having the most comfort convenience while doing your job. Sc--w that, work hard a grind the hours uncomfortably like the rest of us. Plain and simple."

This is why I can't take anyone seriously here that bootlicks for RTO. You clearly aren't part of the core business that actually keeps things working. You don't do maintenance windows, clearly don't support outages and probably couldn't figure out a foreign timezone to save your life. Go make a call to Singapore right now to get help with something. Good luck with that cause it's 4:02am.

The network is a living breathing, 24x7x365 endeavor and the people that do the real work, that WFH successfully know this. All RTO has done is make us work less.

Yeah RTO su-ks but it's happening everywhere. You work in an office space making good money versus being out in the elements. STFU and enjoy the air conditioning and clean hands.

All I will say is we probably make the money but if I have to wake up and drive to work in a company building for my job I want you to also. I want you to work hard and sacrifice your personal comfort for your paycheck like many of us do. WFH is really only about having the most comfort convenience while doing your job. Sc--w that, work hard a grind the hours uncomfortably like the rest of us. Plain and simple.

@az FAKE NEWS!… you’re talking about less than 1% of people doing that, which you also have no proof of. Anyway, if that was the case, then why isn’t their manager questioned regarding performance management?

Get real. Nobody is working from home. They're going to be going out, they're going to play tennis, they're going to play golf.

It’s jealous people that weren’t able to WFH. They’ve convinced themselves that those of us that did didn’t actually work so they can try and feel superior. But here’s the truth: While some people abused it, most of us actually worked more for free.

I love RTO, especially during employee appreciation week, when we are given a bag of stale popcorn to “celebrate” as a team, how much AT&T appreciates us.
