Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Exec and other senior leaders… next ones up?

Who replaces MKW? Obvious choice right now is EB

Upstream CN? BK, RB?
CFO EB -> JG
Downstream AW?
Subsurface JK?
Wells JS?

Turnaround, Capital Projects, FE movements probably not from retirements as those guys are pretty young still

MN and ES roles probably just go away and save the company millions

It’s so Luddite of Chevron to think engine is going to be some amazing thing. Just call it for what it is. RB used to call it a “repetitive work center”, and it really is. And when things are documented well and repetitive, it is absolutely ripe for automation (or AI).

LC is full re--rd to do this for IT. ENGINE might make sense for the other functions, but IT has had access to India as low(er) cost geography for decades. They are heavily used as contractors either as staff augmentation or managed service providers. There’s no reason to stand up an IT-heavy center in India and put lipstick on a pig when all we are doing is converting green badge to blue badge, and expecting those same people to deliver incredible AI transformation when they haven’t done it the last 2 decades.

@1f0
The ELT are letting LC take the fall for the mess that is called, “Engine”. I heard a rumor that LC is frustrated that the “Engine” is not picking up more work in the new organization. The hiring for full time workers is slow and many people are being brought on as contract to hire from MSP’s. I have been working with a team of contractors from the Engine and the most part they are nice but they do not have the “tribal knowledge” of Chevron workflows to understand how to get things done at Chevron. I know several managers that are well aware of it and they are doing their best to keep things going.

@1f0 looks like something is going down. JG hired someone from the outside to replace JL. A new guy in the org chart but didn’t see any announcements about it.

they don’t have enough awards and recognition to be qualified. we already have the top data and ai leader in all of America who’s making data great again

@f5 MA is the next CIO. JL the next CDAO. They are just being managed by Chevron, just temporarily outside of IT because the business leaders are helping them weather the storm of a mess that is LC and AK. Another braindead idea by our leaders because they all need to be a part of this sinking ship together.

The best candidate with all the right experience was pushed out by the current snakes.

Better get a person that can set strategy, build an accountable culture, and has a background in running operations. Too many incompetent leaders placed in role for the wrong reasons. In a process safety world, not good.

This is all useless chatter. It'll be someone just as useless as MW. Whomever will collect a fat pay package and will continue the status quo. All that matters is the stock price and the dividend.

@f5 I want to believe you when you say RB and EB are realizing LC and his cronies were bad hires, but I can’t believe they’d ever admit their mistakes.

MC wants subsurface. I hope he doesn’t get it. Would be a horrible leader. Already is.

MN should be fired. Nobody can figure out what he even does.

MW is to jealous to let another CEO succeed his empire. If he can't get his term extended indefinitely, he plans to sell to Esso or Shell.

Since this is an IT forum, let’s play:
MA, KB or another external hire replace LC
How about KG and AK? They’re not lasting long either.

I heard that EB and RB are finally beginning to see that these were bad hires.

@ah which execs? I don’t think any internal candidate on the current ELT has a chance except EB. MN too old and others are not experienced enough

@a7 I think CVX will get an Indian finance guy fot DEO that will manage the company like a sweaty coal mine and outsource most of the jobs to other countries. He will maximize the revenue, decrease costs and increase profits for the investment banking companies that run the company with shares of stock.

@ar LC’s top successors are currently not in his organization. Our top senior leaders are protecting their remaining IT assets and temporarily housing them outside of IT so that LC can slash and burn the house down

Those leaders are too senior to impact us.
But I just want to know who’s replacing LC and AK because they’re making our lives a living he-l. Or anybody can replace LC… just let us know WHEN

Looking like EB but the more interesting thing is all the other execs retiring

Historically, the candidates for CEO has always been internal and typically in their mid-50s so they have a 10 year run for continuity. And, CEOs have had mandatory retirement at 65. But, there are not a lot of strong candidates currently, which is likely why the BoD extended MW.
