Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Favouritism and how does it end??

There has been blatant favouritism going on since past two years within our team.

This manager has been dangling the carrot right in front of me in the name of opportunities, yet has never recognized me for my efforts.

All while pushing this pet on my a$$ to "learn my tasks"

What's that supposed to mean for me?

People in 'Merica spell it "favoritism". Are you British?

@cn , this! When this happens it's almost always the manger who's not competent, insecure or both. Find and change to a better manager.

I mean there are countless posts and comments about this. It’s the standard culture for this place and so so many folks feel terrible that their ideas and work is not valued. Everyone feels this way from time to time. I hope things improve for you, but honestly all you can really do is keep performing your best and look for other opportunities. Connect with other teams and see if you can contribute elsewhere. Otherwise you may want to look outside of fidelity for greener pastures.

It has been going on for years and isn’t going to change because it goes through all levels of management. The pets get all of the benefits, even though they are often the least effective employees but they kiss @ss well.

Just do your basic job per your job description. (If you don’t have one ask for it saying you want to make sure you are covering your responsibilities.) Then do NOT bust your butt.

As far as training the pet, it isn’t your fault if they don’t understand your “explanations” and if they are such stellar employees they should be able to figure it out anyway.

Years ago I knew a guy who said it wasn’t worth all the effort to get an additional fraction of a percent in his raise so he decided to do the basic job and keep his mouth shut. Then he was promoted soon after! No lie!

Managers at Fidelity are some of the worst . . . And they know they don’t inspire employees or innovate in the work but they get their pay and play their games.

@ar nah that was me 😂😂

So sad to see others also going through same experience.

Glad I am not the only one feeling miserable 🙃

“Dangling the carrot” - you already mentioned this a few posts back.
